The v1.01 update for Fences and Fences Pro was released today by Stardock.  Fences is an application which helps you organize and de-clutter your Windows desktop by creating “Fences” in which icons are contained.    These Fences are shaded areas in your desktop that can be moved and resized for a custom look.  Other features give you the ability to double-click the desktop and make all the icons disappear and reappear again with another double-click.

Fences Pro is available with a subscription to Object Desktop, or as a stand-alone application.  Fences Pro offers more advanced features such as advanced sorting, faded out Fences, and more.  A free version is also available for download.

  • Added Hide Desktop icons to right click menu
  • Changed behavior when removing a Fence excluded from quick-hide to un-hide all Fences.
  • Change Customize tab name to Appearance
  • Renamed Delete Fence to Remove Fence
  • Fixed bug where scroll bars would not appear when resizing Fence.
  • Fixed bug where all icons would leave all Fences on reboot/restart/logoff.
  • Fixed bug where an icon moves out of a Fence when resolution changes.

Incompatibility with WindowFX fixed yet, ID?

on Jun 23, 2010
I just sent in a problem notice regarding the icons leaving all Fences when I rebooted my system and they issue a fix the same day. Now that's being responsive. Or maybe someone else had reported the problem before me.

After seeing they issued an update for the things listed above .

I decided to give Fences Pro another shot as I was having a problem with Fences that would force windows explorer to restart when creating or renaming icons.

I would like to point out this update has fixed this problem for me. I hope it is now fixed for everyone else that has posted about this problem.
