Gas Powered Games and Stardock are excited to release the v1.3 update for the popular real-time tactical strategy game, Demigod.  This update includes a host of fixes and improvements.

Fixes:

  • Abilities while moving fix: Demigod movement has been re-architected to resume attacking previous targets after using abilities. This fixes multiple problems with triggering Demigod abilities while moving.The following exceptions and modifications are by design:
  • Direct targeted abilities, where it makes sense, will cause the Demigod to switch targets (like Warp Strike and Pounce). This will also set the old target variable so if they use a further ability they will go back to attacking their new target.
  • Escape abilities (like Warp Scroll and Bat Swarm) will not re-engage the old target and will actually clear the old target so using another ability will not cause you to re-engage.
  • Giving a move order will clear your old target. So, giving a move order and then casting Warp Area will cause DA to attack whatever he ends up closest to.
  • Fix for ranged units stopping short when ordered to attack structures.
  • Fix for summoned minions not starting at max health when the player has +minion health items.
  • Fix for Oculus' Ball Lightning spawning in invalid locations.
  • Unclean Beast's Plague ability will no longer overwrite Post Mortem.
  • Wings of the Seraphim will no longer be removed when healed.
  • -Heart of Life effects will no longer be removed when healed.
  • Fix for obscure Russian-translated map domination crash. Thank you, Ptarth, for helping to point the way on that.

Improvements:

  • Achievement and Single Player tournament screen Demigod lists now have scrollbars.
  • Oculus’ Ball Lightning will now benefit from standard minion HitPoint Buffs.

Demigod customers can update to v1.3 via Impulse.

Teseer:  I'll be able to play tomorrow and hopefully I can get some good replays and make sure the build actually works properly.  Only been able to test it out one time on some Euros... 

Ownage and DA in the same sentence?!  "You're cra... You're crazy man. You're Crazy. I like you but, you're Crazy."

 

Hedgie:  Yup, just keep your monks if you like... I was doing just fine against a Blood Fire TB who had monk support the other night... our general wasn't in a sharing mood but it didn't matter cause apparently 2000 hp every 35 seconds > 800 hp every time you go back to the crystal...

How does your build work against a character who gets Wand of Speed?

WotS counters:

Trebuchet

Snipe

Chain Lightning

Plague

Any speed item

Suffice to say there are plenty of counters that prohibit its effectiveness.

 

I've been experimenting with a WotS erebus build. High base speed and a warp make him an interesting candidate. Erebus always warps out when low on HP, and with WotS he can get right back into the game in 10 seconds. Btw, WotS is AoE although it does not say that in the description. Also, Mist does not cancel WotS (although he will not be healed while in mist).

How does your build work against a character who gets Wand of Speed? 

Early game I'm the fastest cat in town cause I get boots of speed when I get currency (which is quick cause people ain't yellow denying me at the mid flag anymore and I'm actually holding my own at the lane I'm at) and level up fire aura asap.

It seems extremely effective early, but yes, you and Epi are right that later game there are quite a few counters... which I do my best to anti-counter.  Fire Aura plus Boots of Speed should give me enough to get away from most snares to heal up, specially cause I'm trying to stay at distance to fireball and AA most of the time and only use.  Once stuns and snares get real bad I try and use Frost Nova and Orb of Defiance to try and keep getting some advantage from my new favorite favor item.

I'm still trying to figure out what works the best between Wand of Speeding away and healing up, or turtling up with the Orb.

I'm surprised that WotS is out-performing Blood levels 1-4. It seems like that shouldn't be the case, especially once you consider that you can't even fully top-off early level. I'll take your word for it though. I think that a hyper-aggressive player could really punish anyone using WotS who doesn't have a natural shield (Oak or Queen). 

I can see uses for it though. Wonder if it would help as Sedna against a Rook ._. Probably not, but still trying to find a way to deal with a proper Rook as Sedna other than going Swift Anklet + Pounce and making sure you dive in and kill him on sight. Which only works early game.  

On the other hand, I'm confused how you'll manage to hold flags with Boots, Fire Aura AND WotS. WotS is like... the hp equivalent of BotS so I can see how it can help you really push someone out of a lane but not hold it. Hrm. 

I do see it useable for both Queen and Oak though, so yay variety and tiny meta-game shifts!

I said I hold my own in the lane better, not hold flags better.  WotS eliminates those frustrating scenarios where I'm hiding well behind my tower, waiting for my monk to slowly recharge my health (assuming its still alive and I'm not waiting for its replacement), wondering if its safe to venture out and risk getting spit on, sniped, chained, yellow denied etc etc.

I haven't played as a Blood Fire TB very much, find the concept rather boring so maybe that is a more effective way to go.... So far this seems better though... as long as I'm faster than my opponent or even as fast, I can count on WotS to charge me up and I'm back in the fight.  Even if I don't use it to top off completely, as long as I use it say twice for 1000 each time, that should be more hp than an opposing TB is getting from Blood, even with added monk healing.  The time I fought over a lane with a Blood Fire TB, his monk didn't last very long running in and out of my fire circles, but maybe I wasn't playing against good monk microers so we'll see if the monk healing is a bigger factor next time.

Sure aggressive players are scary... but thats why I'd only use WotS with a Queen, Oak... and TB.  As TB, I have the speed, and I have the long range firepower to not get into those sketchy situations where I can't get away soon enough to use WotS.  I'm not trading autoattacks with UB, I'm trading fireballs for spits... I back off a little, wait 10 seconds then engage again with full HP.  Later on, I have Frost Nova II and III to help me safely use WotS right before Orb.

Doesn't Dark Crimson vial serve that purpose much better Thundercles? There's no area of effect, but I can't remember the last time me and any mates were huddled around our monks safe from any damage. The only place I've been able to think of a good value in WotS is if you were trying to take down towers and letting yourself get dangerously low just to run as soon as the port was confirmed to be  a real port. Then you and your tower bashing friend can go get out of harms way and heal up...but otherwise, as soon as I see someone with that rapid healing effect I know that they are WotS and just try and get some sort of damage on them in a group fight.
