I was up early this morning and I decided to catch up on some work-related things, and realized I have missed the past few episodes of ImpulseTV.  After watching a couple I have several news games on my must-play now, just because of the walkthroughs they did.  Why?  Well like most gamers I enjoy watching trailers of games, but many just show some cut scenes and really don’t show the game itself being played.

This is what is great about ImpulseTV, you can actually see the gameplay with comments about what is going on.

Here’s a quick walkthrough to get you started, and you can download Impulse for free here.

It was running ok, But these days its starting to play videos slower for some reason.

But I still like impulse TV, i think its a great add on

I honestly like the format. It's not a review. It's two regular guys talking about a game they played and showing you how it runs. Good stuff and nice job.

I figured out what was missing, pale red-head glamour models! Get it sorted.

Other than that I do really like semi-informal style e.g. no badly written puns.

I love impulse TV. Almost as addicting as real TV.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  Sometimes I don't care about a game's artistic merrits or the complexities of the human drama portrayed in its single player campaign - I want to know if its fun, and see what it looks like to sit down with it for ten minutes.  It's like having someone else play a demo for me, at a 1/100th of the download.  Keep 'em coming!

Nothing more needs to be said really.  This is ultimately more useful than any sort of professional review, as I get to see some people actually playing and discussing the game.  I don't want a brief summary of all the points in the final review score, what's the game like?  Oh, okay, I can see quite clearly what the game is like.

So Impulse TV does live streams of gamers 24/7?

on Apr 12, 2010

No, it's not TV as in a TV Show, and it's not live matches of games or something like that.  It's a pre-recorded 10 minute or so video of two guys sitting down and playing the game.  They talk about it, show it off a little, discuss what they've done so far and basically demo the game for you.  It's not a "ok, this game is 4 stars" type of demonstration, it's the "well, this is me fighting these space ships, this is the special powers and now you know how the game plays".

Impulse TV isn't anything ultimate. But when you're bored and in need of a new game to play. Watching these videos make you wanna try out these games since they make it look so fun.

impulse TV made me buy Civilization 4 Complete edition, and converted me into a civilization fan lol.

Now we just need impulse TV for other things like, choosing a bride from a russian mail order catalog.

(Seriously though, how can anyone aford those russian girls?! Talk about expensive tastes).

Wait, I'm confused.  Are you saying that the Russian girls have expensive tastes or that you have expensive tastes because you buy Russian girls?

Just clarifying.

Impulse TV has stopped me from buying a game that looked cool from other riviews and a trailer...but once I saw the gameplay, I realized I would hate it.  On the other hand I'v purchased 3 games from Impulse after watching the gameplay and realized I either missed the game or would enjoy the gameplay. There are two few reviews and trailers out there that actually show the gameplay and gamers experience.

I think every game on Impulse should have an Impluse TV spot.

And I am all for them hiring a hot russian model for their show too:

I have to say, ImpulseTV has become a lot more effective than I thought.  For one thing, people have quickly discovered that real purpose of ImpulseTV: To give people an honest look at the games. They're not there to get people to buy but rather to make sure people are more likely to be happy with what they purchase by getting to see what it's really like.

And this is why Impulse is better than Steam and Stardock better than practically everyone else
