So it’s been many months since Windows 7 was released to the public, and during my travels on the web, I have seen praise from so many people about how they are enjoying Windows 7.  Some of these are even coming from Mac users which really should tell you something.

My experience has exceeded my initial expectations, and I enjoy using Windows 7 every single day.  Performance has been outstanding on my main rig, which is obviously quite powerful, but I can say the same thing for my Acer Netbook which I also have Win7 installed on.

win7

Obviously I run quite a few games and applications, and haven’t had one single issue with one, including older applications.  On the customization side, having apps like Fences, ObjectDock, and WindowBlinds make the desktop experience that much better – especially in terms of organization.

Now that many of you have had quite a bit of time to use Windows 7, what are your current impressions so far?

i will be getting it for my new computer shame they didn't make vista to be useful oh well at least they gave us somthing well worth it, hopfuly there won't be another vista or xp 64 anytime soon, apple seems to like failing as well on something new and useless aka ipad.

microsoft are not as good as apple with phones ipods but they do have more software and games, people seem to be not that smart on microsoft the platforms since viruses are mainly made for that.

it will be a while before they can replace xp entirely with win 7.

Sentence structure...and punctuation...are your friends....

So if Windows 7 was my idea, what was Windows Vista?

on Apr 11, 2010

Vista was the prototype of your idea

so far im loving it

I just wish there was a program (like TweakUI) to prevent windows from stealing focus. So far I haven't really found anything useful, other than editing the registry (just had to reinstall because the registry got hosed somehow).

Love it, but a Biatch to skin!!!!!!

I was one of the few and proud that had Vista 64 working flawlessly on my system, so the move to windows 7 was extremely easy, Windows 7 in my opinion is quite spectacular and very very stable, and very smart most of the time, or I just have really really good luck with computers

I am using Windows 7 Professional and it is by far the most stable version of windows I have used. I never made the move from XP to Vista simply for fact that I didn't want to spend the money but, after hearing the crap every one was saying about it I was glad I didn't lay out the money. I was quick to try the Windows 7 Beta  and then the release client. Then I bought as soon it was released and haven't looked back since.

I still love windows 7. It's like windows XP was in its day. Windows vista is windows ME of its day.

Absolutely loving 7.

If you have been forced to use VISTA, Windows 7 is a god send!

Same here! Vista x64 worked excellently on my machine and was very, very stable.  Once I cut back on a few unnecessary start up proggies and resources it was quite quick and very usable. In fact, it still works very well on my rig.... I'm dual booting Vista Home Premium x64 and Win & x64, with each being used for different things.  For example, I'm using Win 7 as a multi-media platform (music, movies, etc), and Vista for games, etc... saves overloading/bloating my OSes.

win7 does work better for games though for the sole reason it uses less video memory in the base OS, from what I know

I've heard that, but then I don't have any high-end games that require huge amounts of resources, and those I do have run perfectly well on Vista. I have a GTX260 coupled with a Phenom 920 @ 3.4 and 8gb RAM, so the games I do have installed in Vista run quite well indeed. Personally, I'd rather keep Win 7 just for entertainment and my proggies.
