We are only in the 3rd month of the year, and so far we have seen a bunch of great releases already, and there are tons more scheduled for release this year.  We have a “coming soon” section on Impulse where you can pre-order some of these games and get them the second they are available.  Many times these pre-orders also have special bonuses exclusively for pre-orders, so that’s another great reason to order early!

Lets take a look at just some of the pre-orders we have going on Impulse.

Elemental: War of Magic

Of course I’m biased for this game, but in reality I’m very excited personally for this as it is shaping up to be a super-fun game.  Everything from the gameplay to the art design is beautiful, and this is a must-have video game for 2010.  Take a look through the Elemental Dev Journals, as it gives some insight to the game development, and you can see how much care and attention is going into it.

Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening

This is the first expansion pack for the highly-popular Dragon Age: Origins which was released not that long ago.  If you have Dragon Age: Origins, and there is no reason you shouldn’t, then this expansion will be a near necessity to you.  This expansion brings a host of new content including the new area of the world, Amaranthine, moral choices to shape the gameplay experience, more combat, and much more.  Check out the trailer here.

The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom

The much anticipated sequel The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom is nearly here.  The visuals in this game alone are making me want this now, but the ability to build and strengthen my empire is really calling me.   There’s too much goodness to list here, but a new victory point system is included, more customization options, and social networking integration is just a few of the new features.

I'm far from one of these anti DRM raving looneys but seriously I don't think Ubisoft wants to sell PC games.  I don't think I'll be buying Settlers even though I was really keen on it after it seemed to go back to it routes somewhat.

What makes settlers 7 different from... well the other 6 lol.

I played Settlers 2 a lot but I havn't even heard about it since then.

Already preordered Elemental.

When will Dragon Age be worldwide?

As much as i love the Settlers, with that DRM i wont buy it. Ubisoft = Fail

Ubisoft = Fail

Elemental = Yeah!

This.

@Island Dog: we forgive you for being biased towards Elemental because it deserves it.

Talking about 2010, would Starcraft 2 be available on Impulse ? I suppose it is too soon to know about it but i was wondering about the odds of seeing the game released through digital distribution.

@RS-fx no way. Blizzard has their own online store that they want to use for their games. As I understand it, you can register any Blizzard game and download it from their store. Plus, all new games will use Battle.net 2.0 (who knows, maybe they'll even do a patch for Starcraft 1 / Diablo 2 for BN2.0?). Being independed played out well for them so far

I was hoping to see some newly announced games that will be hitting the service rather than games we all likely knew we were coming.

I really wish Impulse could get some more support from publishers.

@L0s7man Blizzard is not independent anymore....sorry they teamed up with Activision. Would be sweet to see Starcraft 2 on here though.
