The wallpaper contest we had over the summer was a huge hit.  We received tons of entries and it was very difficult in picking the overall winner.  Since the holidays are coming up I thought another contest was in order.  This time we will focus on animated wallpapers since DeskScapes 3 was recently released, and the new hybrid .dream feature makes it easy to create .dreams from static wallpapers.

So here we go!

Winter Holidays .Dream Contest Sponsored by AMD

Contest runs from November 30th to December 31st.  Entries will be accepted until 12pm EST on Thursday, December 31st 2009.

  • WinCustomize Mods and Admins will decide the winner, and will announce soon after depending on the amount of entries submitted.
  • Submissions must be in the .dream format for Stardock DeskScapes.
  • Animated wallpapers need to be themed for the Winter Holidays.
  • When submitting to WinCustomize, tag your upload with #winterdreams behind the title (example: Christmas Trees - #winterdreams).  Submissions not tagged will not be eligible.
  • Dreams cannot be clips from Christmas/Winter Holiday movies.
  • Entries will be judged on quality and adherence to contest theme.
  • Stardock employees/contractors are not eligible for prizes

Prizes:

1st place – $75 Impulse Gift Certificate, AMD 4890 Video Card (OEM) courtesy of AMD.

2nd place – 1 year Object Desktop subscription

3rd place – WindowBlinds 7 or ObjectDock Plus, copy of DeskScapes for a friend

Cool...Now only if I could get Deskscapes working on Window 7 or even downloaded from Impulse for that matter, or somebody to answer my email, all would be good.

I haven't used Blender in a while, but maybe this is a good way to knock some of the rust off. That 1st place prize is shwiggity shweet. It'd totally give me the chance to pick up Demigod, which I've been wanting to grab for a while. I'd probably get Sins of a Solar Empire and whatever else interests me with what's left over. A 4890 ain't to shabby, either.

Blargh, it's the nearing the end of the month and I still haven't done anything. Damn my laziness, damn it to hell! I'd be shocked if I can come up with something before the month is up, assuming I can even manage to stop being lazy long enough to try...¬_¬
