This is wrong on so many levels.  Especially since Obama hasn't accomplished anything good.

I'm not shocked to see another Obama Jugend video. I was somewhat startled by the first one. I still get chills when that little girl sings 'we're gonna chaange the world'

School response:

Dear Burlington Township Families:

Today we became aware of a video that was placed on the internet which has been reported in the media. The video is of a class of students singing a song about President Obama. The activity took place during Black History Month in 2009, which is recognized each February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our country. Our curriculum studies, honors and recognizes those who serve our country. The recording and distribution of the class activity were unauthorized.

If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me or Dr. King, Principal of B. Bernice Young School, directly.

Sincerely,
Dr. Christopher M. Manno,
Superintendent of Schools

It's wrong for children to have a role model of "small poor kid who worked hard and managed to become president of the U.S."?

When exactly did he work hard?

And as for being elected President, do we really want to teach children that it is more important to be popular than to create something?

Did they sing songs about Condy Rice too?

She, I understand, is a descendant of slaves, i.e. the African Americans who really did contribute to the country (and not just immigrate after the country was built).

Hmm, if we gonna praise people for their hard work why not ask the kids to sing about their parents instead? After all, odds are most work hard to provide for them and odds are many of them were probably poor as well. Also explain why you believe it's ok to break rules so long as it's something you deem ok to do?

So a teacher is facing jailtime for saying a praying in school while no students were present but you don't think it's wrong to sing a song about the current President and about his politics, oh did I mention the original song actually says Jesus instead of Barack Hussein Obama? Kinda funny how quick some people are to dismiss a religious song with politics written into it being taught in Public Schools when it's about a Liberal President. I can only imaginee the outrage had this song been about Bush. The hypocricy of those in the Left and those who agree with them, since Cikomyr is not American, is amazing.

That's not the point! The school systems have no business pushing the role model of their picking on your kids.Political and religious matters are the responsibility of the parents.

You're not as boneheaded as you think.

I think you are going too far.

There is nothing wrong with the school system pushing role models, as long as those role models are people who have actually achieved something, are acknowledged as national heroes by more than some 50% of the population, and, preferably (to avoid Stalinist effects) dead.

Good American heroes that should certainly be taught as role models to children include:

Benjamin Franklin

George Washington

Thomas Jefferson (although the teachers should explain about his slaves)

Abraham Lincoln

Franklin D. Roosevelt

Ronald Reagan (although teachers will probably not like him)

Rosa Parks

Martin Luther King Jr.

I think they should also include one or two Indian chiefs or heroes. They are part of American history and can be role models.

But it must be done without rewriting history (for example making everyone Democrats or something like that) and WITHOUT regard to skin colour (although I fear that American teachers might have a tendency to add skin colour to individual achievements).

What is unacceptable is promoting a current President as a role model, promoting a live person as role model (unless that person has retired), promoting anyone as role model who has not yet achieved anything but was merely given the chance to do so by voters or circumstances, promoting someone because of his skin colour ("the first black President"), or promoting someone who is not universally (that is by a vast majority) acknowledged as a national hero.

(Note that Rosa Parks' and Martin Luther King's fight against racism is what made them heroes, not the fact that they were black while doing so.)

I think it is safe to say that if there is a national holiday for a person, that person is a good role model for American children.

think Obama has given us a whole new meaning of propaganda. I have not in all my years seen such a President in such a frenzy to be in the media like this. It seems as tho he has an insatiable appetite for being in the media.

Obama.  More suited for a role on Big Brother, than actually BEING Big brother.

I'm so surprised.

HAHAH..The unapologetic Obama loving principal in the article didn't even vote for him! hahaha...Bet she told everyone she did.

pictures of him in the walls? pictures stories and slogans in the yearbook? man what a shitty school experience that must be.

I know of a few other country leaders who had little kids sing praises to them and had pictures in every class...

pictures stories and slogans in the yearbook?

Not one picture of Jimmy Carter in my yearbook (thank gawd) and rightly so.
