IGN.com has an interview with Elemental’s Producer, Scott Tykoski about the art style of Elemental: War of Magic

I'd like to say that Elemental's visual style was chosen purely for the love of art. That the style was risky but required to properly lay fourth our grand vision of dead world refueled by magic. That the style would finally establish video games as works of art and we can all celebrate our incredible cultural triumph!

Great interview. Had always wondered what the inspiration was for the art style. Good stuff Scott!

This is definitely one of my favorite interviews! It was nice to read an entire article about the art direction. I have to admit I wasnt a fan at first but now I cant imagine this game any other way!

That was very insightful. I particularly liked the way that Scott was able to articulate the reasons behind their choices in art -- they are not merely contingent or aesthetic.

Thank you for posting that!

Very informative interview. I enjoyed reading it. but just out of curiosity; how many horns can we expect to see on the monsters?
