Cool. But please post the correct prices for the games those are the US prices but EU prices are different (and not only exchanged). Trine EU price is at least 10$ higher. I saw the price here and thought "cool" than went on the game page and thought "eww... same as Steam". Now Trine, in weekend deal, has almost the same price it should have normally (it's still higher however). I know (or hope) that it's not your fault but please remember that you have european customers too that pay even 30-40% more for the same game.

This is probably a dumb question, but does adding it to your cart and 'buying' it (since it says it doesn't charge you until release) count as 'pre-ordering'?  I pre-ordered Elemental in this way, but there is nothing to indicate I actually have a 'pre-order' (no preorder icon on Impulse, no key, no email, etc).  For all I know I'll just get charged on release day and recieve no pre-order benefits.

EDIT - It'd be pretty funny if people didn't get Majesty Gold until Majesty 2 came out; they don't get to play the original game until the sequel is out and they don't want to.

A short and sweet props for picking up Majesty 2!  I know a few of us made a mention of being hopeful that it would happen, and so it did.  I'll be sure to buy it through impulse.  Any info on that majesty gold bonus?  I don't mind being charged right away if I'm getting a special bonus.

Thanks for the reply. But I have to point the fact that they are not exchange rate but different pricing fixed but publishers. An idea could be at least to color in a different way o marking in another way the price that are not equal worldwide (I think you could know that).

Also, even on impulsedriven first page there are price in dollar, so a non US customers have to check every game to find out if the deal is good or not.

That's a good point MIK - it would be nice if you could set a default currency on your impulse settings, and then they could use PHP to display the right amount.  Not so much here, but on the impulse store sale pages at least.

Totally right, I was about to buy Trine, but real european price is not base upon "impulsebuy promo". Not fair, but it's the first time I see this on impulse. Please correct this (additionnal message "US resident only rebate") or don't include US only rebate in worlwide ads.

Stardock don't set the prices. If you've got a complaint about European pricing then take it up with the publisher.

Majesty 2 has a download price five quid more that the RRP in the UK, and can be pre-ordered for £25 off amazon.co.uk

Stardock are being mis-treated as badly as the customer, because they're not being allowed to compete with retail. Let's all just get over it.

Strangely enough, I actually got Trine for the USD price, even though lately I've been starting to see a lot of the dreaded Euro pricing on Impulse as well. Perhaps they recently discovered Norway is not a EU member and changed it for us?

Not that I really care about the currency, but I do care about the 1:1 USD-EUR conversion ratio that has become the trend among game publishers.

As for taking it up with the publisher, I don't see why we shouldn't let Stardock know. I'm guessing they have a lot better communication lines to the publishers, and if Stardock says "this is costing a lot of sales you know", that might have more sway than the few mails from people taking the trouble to dig up the publisher's contact information. Where it would likely just end up ignored by first line support anyways.

Stardock can choose to allow different pricing like we can choose to buy or not. I know that they would go for a real exchange rate instead of having to bear the publisher choice but in the end they choose to allow this because obviously it's better than nothing for them. But still this is a thing against customer like the thing like copy protection or other for the which reason the gamers bill of right exist. I wish Stardock could be strong enough to say no (I know it's not possibile, it's work and you need money) because allowing different pricing make more far the day when this trend will be changed and make them accomplice for that.

Saying that, still loving shopping on Impulse, I wouldn't have bought Trine if not for a kind person that gifted it to me paying in dollar. That's to say that you could have lose a sale for the above reason so please, press the publisher.

Of course Stardock and Publishers can choose their pricing scheme. But what I don't like keeping this information from customers. Trine is announced to me for being on sale for $22.49 on the frontpage, as a new item, and through the mailing list. But when I try to add it to my cart it will show up as $32.27 . That's plain and simple false advertisement.

I was considering buying Trine at the price of $22.49, as that was an acceptable price for a small game like this.

It saddens me that Impulse is also going down the road of Steam with their pricing schemes.
