The Cash for Clunkers programs was another brilliant Washington idea that will help you buy a new car with up to $4500 in credit for your “clunker” car.  I could stop right here and tell you what a bad idea this is, I mean how could this go wrong?

Well within a week or so the program had already ran out of money, and I even read how people had to return their new cars because the dealerships didn’t get paid.  The original allocation for this program was $1 Billion, and the provision was that the program would end when the money ran out.

However, democrats and republicans alike have put their heads together and have come up with another bright idea!  Give another $2 billion to the program!  Of course, they are not really sure where the money will come from, but we are so far in debt now, does it really matter anyways?

This is essentially another welfare program.  The Gov't isn't crediting anything.  We the tax payers are subsidising it for these benefactors.  It's one thing to help people with food, but purchasing new cars on my money?  Gah!

cash for clunkers clunks out...

It really bothers me how stupid they are.

Also, if they do make it a permanent thing, expect people to snatch up all the sub 4000$ cars to trade in to this program... whereupon they immediately end in landfills. And poor people end up with no cars to buy.

Even if Obama gave me 10,000 bucks I still wouldn't drive a 4 cylinder lawnmower

Many are now becoming skeptical about that bill. Critics had already warned the government what would be the outcome of that bill but the government became deaf and still pursue the bill. What more disturbing is the fact that we are slowly becoming indebted and installment loans can’t cover all that!

destroy working cars. check

create more pollution. check (destroying cars and making new ones causes more pollution than letting low efficiency cars run)

destroy the low income car market, harming the poor. check.

destroy the low income car market, harming small businesses. check.

get people to sign themselves into debt by turning in a fully paid working car, and then buying a much more expensive car on debt which they only partially subsidize. check. (by definition, all replacement cars cost more than the 4500$, or the dealer would have turned it in himself)

Congress: We have concluded that the plan is a GREAT SUCCESS
