Paradox Interactive is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this week.  With that they are having a 50% off sale on all catalog titles in the Impulse Store.  Now is a great chance to pickup some fantastic games for a low price.

Just got 2 games + 2 expansions from Paradox.

I don't keep track of the current Impulse prices, but are these actually reduced? It's cheap enough it seems to be that way, but typically Impulse has the strikethrus denoting a sale?

If these are on sale, I have a friend who would probably pick up SotS.

The absence of strikeout may be a bit odd, but the half price is indeed in place.

Thought the same thing, also they don't show up under sale.  I suspect this will be fixed tomorrow, but prices are definately reduced by 50% for all but age of discovery (still shows up as 39.99).

Hmmm... I might give SotS a try again... how long is this sale goin on for?

on Jul 22, 2009

I'll pass, thanks. I can't bear those companies that make 1$=1€. As long as prices are 40% higher in Europe than in US, Paradox won't see the color of my money.

This is bad, as these games look quite good, but a customer vote with his pouch, and so do I.

As if I didn't have enough games to play, now I've got Combat Mission Shock Force, UFO : Extraterrestrials, Crown of the North, Two Thrones, Rush to Berlin and Crusader Kings Complete on top of everything else. If I didn't already own Mount & Blade and EU3 Complete I likely woulda snagged those as well.

on Jul 22, 2009

"King's Bounty" and "Mount & Blade" are both an excellent deal at $14.99 US

Thanks for the heads up.

Aw.  No EU3: Complete Edition?

i'm looking at sword of the stars and there's a few to get.

i see the ultimate comes with 2 expansions (one not listed seperatley, A Murder of Crows) and there's a 3rd expansion available that's not in the ultimate edition (Argos Naval Yard)

are these the same expansion?

would arogs naval yard be compatable with the ultimate edition?

is it worth getting all the expansions?

and finally

is this too much of a thread-jack? =p

***EDIT***

i now see that argos naval yard says 'requires ulitmate edition to play'

on Jul 23, 2009

Ultimate Edition is the base pack + the first two expansion sets. Argos Naval Yard is the newest one and adds a bunch of ship parts and technologies, but doesn't add anything huge (a new race).

If you're worried about the cost, stick with just the Ultimate. The fact is that SotS already has a lot of content and you won't miss too much with outArgos Naval Yard. (in fact, some of the stuff, like Overthrusters, I have yet to even get). If you decide you love the game, you can always pick up ANY at a later time.

However, picking up the full game + all three expansion sets seperately is a bit pricy. I recommend taking advantage of the Ultimate and the current sale. It's a 4X game, similar to Civilization, only it's in space. And each race is incredibly diverse and unique from the rest (can you say random tech tree?) The voice acting is horrid though Though that's Paradox for you...

ta,

it's only £15 for the lot with the sale so i'll probably get it all.

just doing my research now but i must admit stutter-warping-psionic-dolphins sounds too cool to miss

I'm not sure why Impulse doesn't have that. It IS on sale on Gamersgate, though.
