Custom cursors for Windows
Published on June 3, 2009 By Island Dog In WinCustomize News

Today, Stardock has released an update to its popular cursor changing and creation application, CursorFX Plus.  CursorFX allows users to create and use custom cursors on both Windows Vista and Windows XP.  It takes advantage of the visual effects features in Windows to enable things like alpha blended cursors, image effects, and more.

This update includes:

  • Fix for HUGE cursors in the preview
  • Fixes suspend/hibernate issues
  • Misc Win7 Tweaks

This update does not officially support Windows 7 at this time, but it should be work without much issue.  Current users of CursorFX Plus can download the update via Stardock’s Impulse.  CursorFX is available for $19.95, and discounts are available for Object Desktop subscribers.

For more information, please visit www.cursorfx.com.

I'd rather see full 64bit support before W7 tweaks...

Will the new update be available for downloading using SDC? Thanks.

No.  New updates will only be appearing on Impulse.

I just did the update on a Vista Home Premium 64 bit system and everything seems to be working okay.

I am using W-7 64 bit in a dual boot configuration, I use Cursor FX plus so far no problems, I use Desktopx Fences Logon Studio Vista Object Bar Object Dock Plus and Tweak Vista. As of this time Windows Blinds and Bootskin Vista do not nor will they load in the 64 bit version.

I have really only had one program I could not get to work that I used on Vista Ultimate 32 Bit, That program is Windows Washer by Web Root. CC Cleaner works, Malware Bytes Works, Spyware Blaster by Java Cool works. Panda has a beta AV that works so does Kaspersky. I really like it so far, it is getting good reviews from users.

I never had problems with Vista though

This build still does not fix my only Windows 7 problem:

When using CursorFX, when using Aero Peek (to peek at a window on the taskbar), when hovering over a thumbnail, the cursor disappears.

It's like Windows 7 "hides" all other running windows, and it "hides" the CursorFX cursor as well.

This leaves the user with no cursor at all, blindly mousing over thumbnails, and sometimes accidentally hitting the close button on the thumbnail.

Please look at this issue and fix it. Thanks. Keep up the good work otherwise!

Good thing CFX is not supported on Win7 yet, eh?
