Mimo Monitors - What Do You Think?

I ran across an article in PC Gaming magazine about these mini-sized monitors that can be used for a variety of things. It could be used as a message center where you keep track of social networks likes Twitter, or where you keep an eye on other info while you are playing a game on your main monitor.

It's an interesting idea, but for the same price you can easily grab a 19"-22" monitor, so what's the appeal? Well it is connected via USB only, so if you don't have another graphics port, that is certainly an advantage. If you don't have room for another full-size monitor, that could also make this useful.

It's hard to say without actually using one, but I was curious if anyone here uses these.

I read that same article in PC Gamer. I honestly think it's a waste of money. Like you said, you could easily buy a a decent 19" monitor and it'd be much more useful (bigger screen size for more chat windows, music manager, etc).

Obviously if you don't have an extra video output, then it might be worth it, but I think most PC gamers have a video card that has 2 outputs.

I can understand the touchscreen version, but I'd be hard pressed to purchase the "regular LCD" version...

I'd seriously consider the touchscreen though.

Agree with you there Duke. I have two 22" Ilyamas and still find myself a bit pushed for space occasionally. The Mimo does look like a very attractive piece of kit, although it seems to be no more than an extravegance really.

If money was no object and the PC rig had enough power, it would be nice to have the screen set as a permanent iTunes/Winamp/WMPlayer. Apart from that though, I can't really think of a use for one.

Yeah, the touchscreen one might be useful for certain purposes, but I don't really see much point in the normal model.
