I thought his name was Zubaz...now it's Matthew? I'm so confused.

Well, "In for a denarius, in for a dime." I always say.

A Maxine quote for all (including me): Don't take life too seriously; No one gets out alive.

It's cool for a company to offer prizes like this. They do not have to.

It's extremely cool.  Stardock has given me nothing but satisfaction since around 2005 (when I stumbled upon them).  I love all the stuff they make.

As for folks getting mad about not being able to win, meh, that's on them.  I'm glad my question, "Am I eligible or not?" was finally answered.  So, good luck to that millionth new customer!  And continued good luck to Stardock.

Speakers: Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Surround System

WOW!  The awesome capabilities of this speaker system alone is worth all the fuss!

I'm not mad because I already own the Z-5500's running from a Sound Blaster Audigy NX connected by a fiber optic Tos-Link!

(hehe)

Congrats to the millionth customer, who ever it is.Nice prize Stardock

Well, the "problem" is all in the main choice: it *prevents* any old user from having a chance to win.

It's not like a lottery on a mall, when any old customer can casually be the winner, as a new one. It's a prize for a new customers ONLY.

What about adding another PC for a random old user to celebrate the event? I'm sure it will extinguish the controversy. Even for people who doesn't win.

Actually, I look at it as "It enables someone to win.", and helps Stardock and hopefully WC as well.

on Mar 19, 2009

Sure, Captain Oblious, it actually enables someone to win.

Except *any* old user. And that's the problem.

It can sounds like "Who cares about you old users? We are aiming for new ones"

Why be bitter? Is someone taking something away from you that you are entitled to? If so, why are you more entitled?

Isn't this the case of someone deciding to make an offer of a gift? Isn't that his right? Who are you to say who deserves the gift and who doesn't?

Is it taking food, clothing, medicine or money away from you or your family?

Suppose this scenario: Same decision, same prize. Unannounced...would you feel deprived?

Suppose it were announced after the fact...xyz won this. Would you feel deprived then?

Now suppose you won. Would you feel that you were depriving someone else? Would someone else be more qualified than you?

Would you return it and say give it to xyz, he/she is more deserving than me?

on Mar 19, 2009

Ah, com'on... that winner may just auction it later for quick cash and then, anyone could buy it for 2500$ or less!

Luck is fun to come by, being envious of it or show jealousy before the fact can't be any good for the mood.

on Mar 19, 2009

Are you joking me or you can't really understand where's the difference?

No, i don't, and do you want to know why? Because IT'S NOT THE SAME AT ALL.

If someone else wins I really don't care. There's just a chance in a million, after all.

What I really don't like is the fact I simply can't even have a chance to win. And with me other 999998 users.

That's a prize just for newcomers. And that's not very fair. Period.

I think a lottery for any one of the million users would be better.

Frankly, the whole charade is disgusting because I can't win it just because I work for the company. This is just another prime example of how Stardock and their Impulse thing is a scam.

Anytime someone gets something that I don't have a chance of getting I know in my bones that their benefit has come at my expense.

If I had my way, I'd have everyone at Stardock (except me) shot. I think everyone here will agree that there simply is no other option here.

on Mar 19, 2009

Wow so much crying over this...

Its just a way to encourage people to register/buy from Impulse, whats the problem? Its a form of advertisement in a way.

If you want to get a chance of winning this just keep buying games and making new accounts till you win

If not stop complaining and let that millionth winner be a happy guy!

OK...as long as you don't have to buy him/her the prize....did anyone ask you to?

Right On! Where are those pitchforks when I need them? Durn 'em! Bullets are too good fer 'em. That Brad guy should hang 'em all high!

If I ever meet the meanie who dreamed this up I'll whip him with a wet spaghetti.

*edit: Draginol? What kinda nick is that? Isn't that an antibiotic against infections caused by Dragon bites? Get a better one!

Bah no one is going to believe that!  Everyone knows that everyone that works at stardock has become insanely rich with the release of Galactic Civ and SOASE.  Seriously, the cost of that computer is mere pocket change to all the members of the stardock team that spend their days lounging on Carribean beaches and thinking up ways to cause commotion on the forums for the fun of it!
