I'd just like to say that this thread is therapeutic.  I never have to worry about falling apart and killing myself.  No matter how pathetic I feel, I'll always have this to think back on and see how far I have to fall before I hit bottom.

Seriously, this was almost funny when the whining started, but arguing about the rationality of said whining... wow.

I feel like a shining example of humanity, that and taking a shower.

I completely misunderstood the whole thing

My apologies to all. Good luck to the lucky bugger who gets the PC.

If there had been an official reply to this, there wouldn't have needed be this much fuss over the whole thing. Instead it has only been flames about how ungrateful people are who even consider seeing this some other way than a perfect act of generosity.

I don't think it *is* this way, but it's easy to get the impression that Stardock were waiting for the "idealists" to bully those who think different to silence.

Here's what I would have wanted to see:

"We made this giveaway to celebrate a great occasion. It was not our intention to make anyone feel left out." and maybe even "we will consider other ways to celebrate occasions like these in the future".

With this, I will drop this topic...

Give me this rig. I'll do some good with it. Load it up with every scrap of software that you can, and I'll auction it off. I can feed a lot of hungry kids for five grand. If I can find a corporate sponsor that is willing to overspend, then I can feed even more.

I am certain that there is a food bank in your area that would be delighted to receive this boon.

You can benefit one person, or you can benefit a hundred or more. (And stop any and all whining in the process.)

So, will StarDock give a prize to the 1M poster as well? This thread has become a sensation and amazingly has managed to stay within the topic created by the whiners.

Besides, I don't know why all the complaining, I'm gonna win the rig since I know exactly when to make the 1M purchase necessary to win. I can see into the future and I saw myself playing Sins and that new rig. Well, maybe not the future, more like a dream, but it can happen.

How many folks have bought more than one item.

Me!

GalCiv2/Fredlords ..

GalCiv2/SharkHaveatart

GalCiv2/TwiceRight of the Harbor

ObjectDesktopX/ the whole pack in a rack of a snack in a wack, SkinStudio *alone* is worth MUCH more than the incredible deal i got at 39.95$US (Heck, you can even take off the decimal!) Close enough?

AVGIS8/ Greedsoft of czek republic - no AIG punks overthere, i guess.

Me too...bought the whole GalCiv bundle, Sins, Sins: Entrenchment, Titan Quest, Space Rangers, and I'm sure there is another one that I am forgetting...Hope SD likes my $$$ as much as I like the games that $$$ bought!!!   LOL

Definitely gotten the value out of the $$$ I gave. No complaints here.  In all honesty, who cares who wins, just hope they know how to appreciate such a sweet rig and that they get good use out of it.

BTW, the Z-5500 speaker system is SWEET...I have it on my rig and set-up in my basement.  One of the best purchases I ever made.

I read most pages, but did not see it listed....  what type of  CPU  fan  and/or  CPU cooling  is being used???

Being a perfectionist  I want to know all details.

on Apr 10, 2009

I would assume it's stock cooling for both CPU and GPU. Otherwise it had been posted.
