Stardock Corporation announced today that the first micro-expansion to Ironclad’s Strategy Game of the Year, Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment, is undergoing further incorporation of beta feedback to maximize quality and will now be available February 25 for download on Stardock’s digital download platform, Impulse (www.impulsedriven.com).

“One of Stardock’s key strategies for success with past games has been the incorporation of player feedback from our open betas,” said Stardock President and CEO Brad Wardell. “We want fans to get the most of this expansion and are making sure we’re delivering the best content possible.”

The additional time will allow for Ironclad’s development team to incorporate feedback to date and allow for another round of beta testing.

Ironclad’s Blair Fraser stated, “It’s of paramount importance to everyone that what we’re releasing is the best and most robust content we can.”

Sins of a Solar Empire was IGN.com’s “PC Game of the Year” and achieved numerous “Strategy Game of the Year” awards and “Best of 2008” mentions from distinguished media outlets including G4TV, Gamespy.com, Wired, Gamasutra.com, Gametrailers.com and Gamespot.com. Great, time to get back into sins!

on Feb 09, 2009

Cool!

on Feb 09, 2009

Though its hard to find time to play any games at all when taking university, I'm sure I'll be able to fit in some SINS play time and give feedback from that.

Thanks for the heads up.

ARGH!!!

just kidding...

I was really hoping for Feb 4th..then 11th.

Now the countdown has begun in earnest.

Thanks!

What 2 more weeks! Now where did anatar put those torches and pitchforks....

Well, it's to be expected, there are too many minidumps as is (3-4 per 50 planetish lesurely paced game), and they need to fix the bugs; auxilary government persay.

*sigh* ok, but I want the second expansion on the 26th lol!

on Feb 10, 2009

Yeah..the 26th month.

on Feb 10, 2009

Feb 25th...

God damnit.

You're launching on the same day as Darkfall Online.

How cruel... how am I supposed to decide which one to play?!?!?!?!?!??!

Or am I trippin' and this is just another beta phase?

on Feb 10, 2009

Ya, I was going to be REAL shocked (and/or impressed) if it war released on the 11th; just too many quibbles I could not imagine they could balence or squash in so few days.  Good news is, the Beta is good enough and stable enough so Beta testing is more fun than work now.  Plus, if they released a "halfbutted" version, it would tarnish that golden pedistal of gamedom they are riding now.

Amazing. First game comng out a development studio and it was critically acclaimed, excellent game too. Hope they do very well.

on Feb 10, 2009

yay!  release date confirmed!    (maybe then we will get the AI diplomacy expansion which I now want more than ever thanks to the fact that you can blockade people with starbases)

Good stuff to be sure! The better Sins is, the more the chance of IC getting a license to make a Star Trek, Babylon 5, BattleStar Galactica and Star Wars editions of it.

on Feb 10, 2009

Yeah no, there's no chance of that happening.

on Feb 11, 2009

Hey, anyone who can't wait is welcome to jump into the beta now and have your say in the final stage of tweaks!

You never know... Yeah getting the ST & SW franchises might be miniscule at best but it never hurts to try. Shoot they could start with a B5 edition. I remember a long time ago JMS commented about wanting to do a B5 game but nothing simply lived up to his expectations or something to that effect.

I think if Craig or Blair contacted him now with Sins and all its awards he would likely give it serious consideration.

We're gonna get another beta patch to break though, yes?
