The folks over at Edge-Online takes a look at Demigod and gives their impressions of the game and the partnership between Gas Powered Games and Stardock.

“You know, this game was just a little too far out there,” explains lead designer Mike Marr, who it must be said looks awfully young for all this. “Publishers wouldn’t take a chance. It really plugged in to Stardock’s mentality, though. Galactic Civilizations and Sins Of A Solar Empire are really deep, strategic games, but they don’t quite have the graphical pizzazz. So it was a logical extension to keep the tactics but add a triple-A quality.”

GalCiv I can understand wrt graphical pizzazz, but Sins? Sins is a rather pretty game. Maybe I just like space

Well it's not the pizzazz, but the implication that because they're not as "flashy" as Demigod it's not triple-A quality Don't get me wrong, Demigod looks absolutely fantastic on the SupCom engine, but it's a different beast from both GalCiv and Sins, in both scope and target audience, so it's a bit unfair to make this kind of comparison.

And as I said, I know Tyo/Mike didn't mean it that way, but that's how it reads

I think he's just saying that GPG is spending alot more money, Annatar, not that the other games suck or lack value.  Of course, when you consider that SoaSE cost under $1M to make "alot more money" can be subjective....

Frankly if you are zoomed in enough to appreciate the graphics in Sins, as in Supcom, then you are probably missing something important, (with a few exceptions to time ability usage, etc.). ^^ 

It seems like so far Demigod strikes a balance between strategic zoom and closely watched battles that SoaSE and Supcom don't really have, but early days yet.

Sins didn't have graphical detail? I'm sorry but it most certainly does, while still delivering an excellent game.

Sins did have good graphics but demigods are alot more colorful and detailed. more Pizzazz, more bright, while sins though good graphics alot was dark and usually u didnt really see troops.
