It’s only been a couple of days since Obama was sworn in, and in that short period of time we already get a good sense of how far left this country is headed.  Facing an incredible financial crisis, Obama took his first days to make sure islamic terrorists in Gitmo will have the same rights as you and I,  and treated nicely, so they can easily go back to committing acts of terrorism, as so many before them.  It seems the terrorists have gotten their share of the bailout.  Also note you have people like Jack Murtha who says he will welcome islamic terrorists to be housed in PA.  Oh, and the reason the administration is giving?  Well, so the “world” will love us again.  Imagine that, your safety is being jeopardized just to impress people who will hate you anyways.

He also took the time to the make some orders to make extra punishment for “hate crimes” associated with homosexuals.  It won’t be long before people are prosecuted for criticizing islam or homosexuals, mark my words.  In this time we have also found out many of his top donors were recipients of governments bailouts, which by the way, Obama is pushing for a new stimulus packages, dubbed the Generational Theft Act of 2009 by leading conservatives.  At last count, his package will cost over $1.4 Trillion dollars and no has no realistic plans on actually doing anything to help the economy.  In fact, this package will ensure the collapse of the economy as we know it.  Liberals love this package because it’s more “free” money for people.

Now it’s no secret that Obama supporters for the most part are clueless when it comes to economics, and anything else associated with common sense.  They spend all their time whining and blaming Bush for the economy, when in reality, this is something that has been set in motion for many years beyond Bush.  Bush was horrible when it comes to fiscal responsibility, but I don’t believe he actually knew the results of what he was doing.  On the other hand, Obama knows exactly how to get socialism in the United States, and the ball is already rolling.

Bush ushered a new era of big government, and Obama wants to continue with an even bigger government, taking care of your every need, at least that is what they will tell you.

I'm still waiting for a good response to Obama's trillion dollar stimulus that even his own people can't account for.

For sure....there are reasons why the far Left is in worship mode.....He's coming through for them not only on the fiscal side, but also on the social side as well....You've already mentioned hate crimes for saying anything even perceived as against homosexuals or homosexuality.

He's also a liar. For example, he campaigned on the promise that he would look at every item of federal spending and remove from the budget all pork-barrel items.

And he said that he would support policies to reduce abortions, but yesterday, with his signing an executive order to lift the Mexico City policy, that prohibits taxpayer funds from going to organizations that promote or perform abortions overseas, "he is effectively guaranteeing more abortions by funding groups that promote abortion as a method of population control," so said Douglas Johnson, legislative director of the National Right to Life Committee.

Planned Parenthood International has reported that under the Bush administration, they lost more than $100 million in funding. Isn't a bailout of the abortion industry when it targets unborn babies in Third World countries an expenditure?

The End of the Republic, As We Know It

As to your title, this is absolutely true unless "We the people" come to our senses VERY SOON. We are living in times when the government is providing the solutions to society's problems.

It could be that too many of us really don't know what a Republic is....or may have forgotten what we once learned...or worse, were never taught at all!

You might find this link interesting: It amounts to a Government 101 course in a few minutes.

Sorry, but you are full of it. I guess by "boring peace" you forget about the first WTC attack, Kobar Towers, USS Cole, etc. But then again, if you can't blame Bush then they never happened, right?

That's right ID, you hit that nail on the head. The liberals refused to acknowledge that Al Quaida had declared war on the US. A few ineffectual cruise missile strikes, then forget about it. That is why 9/11 occurred. If you don't swat a mosquito it will bite you. The example you quote is common perception of the Clinton years by liberals.

Actually, I believe we are seeing the culmination of misguided and ultimately fatal policies that began more than eighty years ago. Roosevelt's bunch didn't have a clue what might work to end the depression so they threw everything but the kitchen sink at it for nearly a decade without making a dent in it. World War II bootstrapped us out of it & the New Deal took the credit, even though nothing about the New Deal did squat to get us back on our feet. The expansion of governmental intrusion into and control of our lives that really picked up steam with the Great Society, accompanied by the philosophy that the government knows best what is 'good' for us, has finally collapsed in on itself.

This is true. Modern economists now say that Roosevelt's policies may actually have made things worse; what could have been an 18-month recession was jacked into a 10-year depression.

Of course, it (and the war, of course) got him elected 4 times.....that's what matters most.

See, liberals lack the gene that enables them to see/understand long-term. They don't grasp that the simple act of signing a policy into law isn't a magic trick, with instantaneous results. They don't understand that things, especially economic policies, can take time to show results. Unless it was signed by a liberal President, of course, then it doesn't matter how long it takes or what happens, it was the right thing to do. And if it fails, it's because of the Republicans.

It is not a gene, it is neuron.  And they lack plenty of them.
