We have a new contest we are launching next week, and your mission will be to find Stardock’s new mascot, Stardog.

This contest is a scavenger hunt, and will be played as followed:

The first clue will always be shown on the Stardog page. Clues are identified by an image of Stardog hidden somewhere on the page. To reveal the clue, click on the image of Stardog, and he will give you a hint for your next destination, where you will need to look for his new hiding spot.

Once you have found the final clue and solved it, you will be asked to enter your Impulse account information. This information will be sent to the prize department and they will contact you with information on how to receive your prize. The dynamic chart will show how many contestants have found each clue and when the daily winner has completed the hunt. Once the winner has been found, the hunt will end for that day.

What do you get for this adventure?  Well each day a winner will get a $100 gift certificate which they can spend on anything in the Impulse Store.  The contest will run from December 15-19, and will start each day at 12pm EST.

In order to participate, you must register an Impulse account.  If you don’t already have one, follow the link below and get yourself setup.

Get all the other rules and information at the Stardog website at https://www.stardock.com/stardog/.

Cool.  Too bad I never win any contests though.

Maybe I'll try it anyway...

Too bad Stardock doesn't have that many good games on Impulse...

on Dec 11, 2008

I know what i'm going to do next Monday through Friday... play catch'a'dog for a 100$ gift.

on Dec 14, 2008

I take it that someone in Stardock's graphics department is a fan of Illustrator?

on Dec 14, 2008

Damn my inability to grasp timezones... 12 pm est, does this equal to 6 pm Brussels Paris Madrid zone? Or 7 pm?

on Dec 15, 2008

I'm playing on a PC with no sound so NO I don't hear what you hear!

Sammual - Just not getting it.

on Dec 15, 2008

Umm, I think there is something screwy going on with this.  It doesn't seem to be working right.

Are there supposed to be Stardogs all over the place, all giving the same clue?  And no, I don't hear what you hear.  I thought maybe a Christmas theme or SoundPackager, but not there.  But wait, no, it was there - once - and it gave me the same clue as the demigod website did.  Oh, and your 'progress tracker' doesn't work either.

What the hell?

Shadowdragoon - Now that you won for the day can you tell me what the 'Do you hear what I hear' clue ment?

Sammual

on Dec 15, 2008

Yeah, I did not hear what you hear(d)

on Dec 15, 2008

Now that I restarted IE, the progress tracker is showing how many people found each clue, and now all of the Stardogs are gone, so it seems to be working okay.  I hope this won't happen tomorrow - I would like a fair chance at winning this, so please fix whatever issue your contest is having.

EDIT: Also, I should mention that the instant the contest started, the progress tracker showed one person on the fifth clue already, for a moment before it stopped showing any numbers at all.

Hear what? May i ask!

Looks like ShadowDragoon won this (For Monday)... but it's only 12:34EST local time.

Guess i'm gonna have to wake up at Midnight rather than Noon to participate or stand a fair chance at hunting down any further daily clues.

(PS; SeaMonkey browsing overhere possibly didn't load up the JavaScript necessary to activate the second clue? Right?)

Fun anyway.

It has been clarified that "Do you hear what I hear" referred to SoundPackager, which ironically is what I originally thought, but a glitch of some kind made it not work for me.  That's too bad too, I might have won.

I got to the final clue and was prompted for info, I put in my impulse ID, but then I put in my impulse password instead of the "answer" :/

And I think I further screwed up by using Davabled as my ID, instead of my email address as my ID... bleh.  I was so excited to!

edit: it let me play the game again, so I went ahead and this time made sure to use my email adress instead and enter the correct answer... this was nice compared to yesterday, when it seemed to stop giving out clues rather quickly.

on Dec 16, 2008

Well, we will see who wins I guess.

EDIT: I went back and looked at it, and yeah, the Stardog just hadn't been in the Red Wings theme like it was supposed to be.  I hope that nobody else was able to see it while I wasn't.

I went back and looked at it, and yeah, the Stardog just hadn't been there in the Red Wings theme like it was supposed to be.  I hope that nobody else was able to see it while I wasn't.

Yeah the Red Wings things wasted me about 10 minutes too.. it seemed to work better if I added it to my shopping cart, then followed the links to the Red Wings page from the checkout cart.

also curious: it's showing that more people got to the 5th clue than finished the 3rd clue.
