I have spent the last couple of weeks browsing through the ad scans hoping for some good deals on either games, toys, or electronics, and there was really nothing to speak of this year. The stores and malls were packed without a doubt, but the lack of any real sales will make this a dismal shopping day. Many of the popular items this year such as certain games and other related electronics were not discounted at all, and the things that were on sale were stuff you wouldn’t buy anyways.
We decided not to get up real early. The big item we were after, which was an LCD TV for the kids room, we had purchased a few days earlier on a decent sale at Best Buy. That was the “big one”, so the rest of the gifts are just stuff we can pickup anytime as nobody had any obvious sales on them. We dropped the kids off at grandma’s and headed out to a few stores just to look around and see if we stumbled upon anything not advertised.
It seemed the real popular item this year was GPS’s, which most of the stores we visited were completely sold out. I snagged a UPS system for $20 at Staples, something I had been wanting to grab for a while. We also picked up a few additional gifts for the kids, and a few more Christmas decorations, and it was time to get the kids and take them to the movies.
I decided the best way to shop is just doing it online. With a bit of research, you can find what you want at price better than the retail stores, and usually with free shipping as well.
