Fences is a brand new type of Desktop Icon Organizing program for Windows Vista & XP. A side-project by Stardock's chief architect Jeff Bargmann, the project originated in 1999, and has finally been brought to the spotlight with a polished public release.
Fences is now available as a free community preview!

In some ways it reminds me of Windows 3.1? not sure it has been a while, amazing how much we forget as technology moves forward, one thing i never forgot what and is the best DOS, i always loved it, taught my children on it in the late 80's and early 90's oh i just had to reminice a little bit when i saw fences, and by the way i do like very much, and cant wait for the release

The clik desktop hide/show function & transparency would be sweet if added to Tab Launchpad

The post gives the impression that Fences is now available by public release. Is that the case? How/where do we download it to give it a try? Looks cool!

It is available in a public beta (go tot the site and enter your email, some users will be selected to test).  Should be live soon(-ish)
