If you use Microsoft Outlook and have a Live Hotmail address then you might want to check this out.  Microsoft has released the 12.1 beta for Outlook Connector which syncs your Hotmail e-mail and contacts data with Outlook.  The big update here is the ability to now sync with the Windows Live Calendar beta.  Syncing with your Hotmail calendar was previously a premium service, but this will now be a free feature.

From the Outlook Team Blog:

It also supports some great new features that make the experience in Outlook even better. For example, you can have multiple calendars on Windows Live Calendar and each of them will synchronize to Outlook with the Outlook Connector 12.1 Beta. Windows Live Calendar supports calendar sharing as well and guess what? Shared calendars to which you have access will also synchronize with Outlook!

So this looks like Microsoft might be trying to give Apple a run for the money considering all the problems that MobileMe has been having lately.  Will their attempts to wrangle “the cloud” succeed?
