Get your skin on!

Stardock is pleased to announced the release of WindowBlinds 6.2 today. WindowBlinds is an application that lets users easily change their Windows interface by applying a new skin. These "visual styles" can be applied across the entire user interface (title bars, push buttons, start menu, taskbar, etc.) of the operating system. As a result, users gain complete control over the way Windows looks.

What's new in version 6.2:

  • Improved compression on start menu animations
  • Animated wait screens during Apply
  • Enhanced layer support (accompanied by skin author support in SkinStudio 6.2)
  • Bug Fixes

WindowBlinds is available in both a free version and a an enhanced version which adds many additional features like the ability to change color/hue/brightness on the fly, change toolbar icons of IE and Explorer, and much more. WindowBlinds is available as part of Object Desktop, Stardock's ultimate suite of desktop customization tools, or at stand-alone for $19.95.

More information can be found at www.windowblinds.net.

Why announce a Window Blinds upgrade and then not release it for another week?!?! Who thought that was a good idea? If your going to say it's released then have it ready to go.
Not understanding.  It's available now.

WindowBlinds 6.2 is out right now.

You're thinking of SkinStudio 6.2.

They gotta get this fixed. SDC or Impulse? SDC or Impulse? SDC or Impulse? SDC or Impulse?.....this is causing too much confusion. Commit to one or the other and whichever one is chosen make sure it works before there are announcements of upgrades that ya can't even get!

What?

WindowBlinds 6.2 was released simultaneously on SDC and Impulse.

Impulse is our preffered platform. That's what we've "commited" to. But we continue to support SDC for those who insist on continuing to use it for now.

Oh, OK....I'll pretend I'm not still using SDC....

What can I say? I still get a warm fuzzy feeling when I have an excuse to open up a DOS window

Ross, you can use the new layer feature for glow images.... sort of

It's a nice idea, but they would always show. I just need them to show when the taskbar buttons show.

And don't get me started, on what could be done with an animated glow effect. Now that would be something.

This being the case, I figured that Impulse would be the best way to perform this update. Once I updated through Impulse and re-booted, WindowBlinds popped up and said I needed to re-boot when it loaded. After the third re-boot, I decided to try SDC. The only way for me to fix this was to open SDC, uninstall WB and reinstall through SDC. This happened on the last update also. For me, updating through Impulse does not work.

Like #38, i thought I would give Impulse a go. Perpetual loop of re-booting, gave up and restored via SDC. I think this update will go the way of IP4 until I can be assured that it works on both versions.

Ach, here goes, im gonna download and install impulse.... See how it goes *crosses fingers*

EDIT: Didnt read the 2 above me. Think ill give it a miss until it has been fixed

EDIT2: Decided to try it anyway and it worked like a charm Couldnt find the update at first as it didnt show under the update tab, but rather under the desktop tab next to it.
Anywho, pretty cool looking program and i like the fact that it doesnt just focus on games.
So heres to other apps joining the impulse bandwagon!!

I can't find a download of WB 6.2 for current owners who do not have Object Desktop. I don't think I need SDC or Impulse. What am I missing?
on Jul 24, 2008
I think you are best of downloading impulse m8. I bought WB by itself and not part of a bundle.
Having impulse automatically lets you know of any updates for any of your stardock programs.
It a good program and is not bad like some people say it is. I had no probs with it, it was a matter of downloading impulse, downloading the new WB 6.2 and then restarting. All done in a matter of 5 minutes.

That's not correct, I run XP Home Edition, 32bit, SP3 and run IE7 with not problems at all. I don't have any addons or extentions in IE7.

What problems have you encountered running IE7 on a XP system?

Wha? I've been using IE7 on XP Pro SP2 since it came out.
