You have probably heard the news lately about the new "Dell Dock" that is being included with new Dell systems. With that news comes a lot of people who like to claim that docks are rip-offs of Apple and other statements like that.

In case you didn't know, docks have quite a history on both the PC and even OS/2. Brad Wardell (aka Frogboy) gives his insight on the origins and progression of the popular "dock".
