I spent some time reading comments and postings on various sites that lean towards the left, regarding the visit of Irans leader Ahmadinejad. I was simply amazed to find the amount of support for him among the left. They were truely offended that the President of Columbia University tried to "insult" him, and many people offered sympathy for him.
As I have said before, the left has some type of irrational facination with dictators that I really just don't understand. I would assume the left identifies with him because he shares the same hatred for Bush as the left does.
Here are some of the comments:
- "I'm starting to really like this man. He's taking the only real option:
to petition to the minds of American citizens and put his "sane" face
on."
- "what i don't see being mentioned is that this guy is the democratically
elected president of Iran. he's not some sheik or dictator. also, we
forget that Iran is a completely different country with a completely
different culture. I'm just not buying it this time Bush Co."
- " Ahmedinejad 2008!
- "One of these men is a liar, a war criminal, a murderer, a cheat, and a thief. The other is the president of Iran."
- "I agree with iran, their not a threat, the only threat is the us of a"
I really have to say the far left in this country is just insane. What's even more troubling is the far left is the base of the democrats, and have firm grip on the candidates.
