Yesterday on ABC's Good Morning America Hillary Clinton attended a staged town hall meeting filled with selected members, and obvious supporters. During her "meeting" Hillary pledged the following:

"We're going to have universal health care when I'm president - there's no doubt about that. We're going to get it done,"
the New York senator and front-runner for the 2008 nomination said.

Of course Hillary was largely unchallenged by the host Robin Miller, and was never asked any tough questions that Hillary might have to actually answer like how she intends to pay for all this? But this is what the 2008 Presidential election will look like for democrats......a clean pass from the media.

Didn't we hear this 15 years ago?  And they had a Democrat Congress at that time as well.

You are right, fluff questions from the peanut gallery.

Yes, it's HillaryCare II.

where is any evidence of this?

1 person doesn't ask the questions you wanted asked to 1 other person and that is your assessment of the entire media's treatment of everyone from the democratic party on everything? Nonsense!

looks like you are looking for a free pass.

and by the way ...."universal" health care for "everyone" ??? department of redundancy department? lol

I do think the there is a healthcare crisis in our country. I don't think that universal healthcare is the answer. I really don't think that the entire country should have to go through what we have to as military dependents. Because we are Tricare Prime Remote we do not go to a military treatment facility any more and I could not believe what a huge difference there is in the quality of care. It's like the doctor actually gives a crap about my kids. We did have a doctor in family practice in Jacksonville that was great but other than that it was less than satisfactory and we very rarely even go to see a doctor and we very rarely saw the same person more than once. I do believe the quality of care will suffer. You would think all the problems with the VA system would show that a huge government bureauacracy is not the way to improve healthcare in our country.

As for Hiliary, it's if you become president not when. Even if she wants to git 'er done it doesn't mean it will happen. OMG, I sound like a Republican. What's happening to me?

we are under the federal employee coverage and it rocks. loads of choice, lower cost than most employers hit you for. i wish everyone could have what i married into. i have never had an employer that has ever come close to providing what the fed does for less money.

Her audience was hand-picked and the person who initiated the "health care" issue was someone who worked on HillaryCare I.

LOL.  Coming from someone who complains about Fox News.

Do you seriously think democrats and repbulicans will get equal coverage from the general media for this upcoming election?  The fact is the "host" hardly asked any questions and Hillary gave what amounted to a campaign speech for most of her air time.  A canidate remarks that they will institute a universal healthcare system and don't you think they should at least question them on it?

That's because it does have LOADS of choices. Once National Health Care goes through, your choices become 1. Do it or go to jail.

Well, since we do not have universal health care, then everyone is just espousing opinions, right? However, we do have models to look at to see what form it will take. Canada? England?

I can see congress buying their way out of it, and the Federal Government workers demanding to be exempt from it. They both know a rotten egg when they see it.

Steve Eckstat: Sen. Clinton, I was part of your 1993 Health Care Task Force. Obviously we weren't very successful at that time, so as president would you try to create a plan for universal health coverage again?

on Mar 27, 2007
because this guy was in the audience, that means the audience was "hand picked?" that is ridiculous. it would only be a legit audience if it was only filled with people who hate her?

i would expect there to be some supporters in the audience, that doen't mean the audience was hand picked. geeez.

Clinton: My goal is to have a health care system that provides quality, affordable care to every American. On way to achieve this goal is to have a national health care system where there is only one source of care and the government runs it.

That is what they have in Canada, and it is called a single-payer system. Another way to achieve universal coverage is to build on the employer-based system.

where is this quote from?

this is what she said on ABC...

Clinton: ...We can build on the existing employer system, which is what I proposed doing back in ‘93 and ‘94. It’s what Senator Edwards has proposed doing. It’s what many people think is the most practical thing to do because a lot of people are satisfied with their health care, they just don't like the cost. And they think we could do better to making sure the quality was uniformly high across our country. The other big way of doing it, which a few of the other candidates in the Democratic primary are advocating is to move towards a system that would have Medicare for everybody, you know, kind of a single payer system, where we would try to get the cost down because you wouldn’t have all the overhead and administrative cost that go with the private insurance market. You know, I think we have to have a uniquely American solution to health care, because we're different kind of country than anybody else. I mean, we are bigger, and more diverse and people like their choice and their idea they want to know who their doctor is and what hospital they can go to. So, I think we will move towards requiring employers to participate, the way Massachusetts does, or the way California is considering, and if you don't insure your employees, then you're going to have to pay some kind of a per employee amount into a fund, so that everybody can be given insurance. But we're also going to make it possible for us to lower cost. And the reason I haven't sent out a plan and said, ‘Well here's exactly what I think we should do,’ is because during this campaign I want the ideas that people have. I want to hear from you who have different perspectives about what you think will work.

where is this quote from?

It's from questions that were not broadcasted.

Clinton: Well, I want to make clear that there is a difference between having a health-care system that provides quality affordable health care to every American and having a national health system where there's only one source of care.
