A man in Florida was sentenced to six-years in prison after being convicted of several conspiracy and copyright infringement charges. The man made millions off his website selling software titles such as Adobe and Macromedia.

The FBI is currently investigating where he obtained the serial numbers which he sold with the software. Prosecutors say the man cost the industry more than 20 million dollars, but some say it could be more.

Wow... That's a hit in the @zs for just about anyone.. But, well deserved.

Just remember, Piracy can result sometimes in even more than 6 years. He may have even got off light in comparison to some.

A little sad when you think about it. 6 years in prison for selling a pirated copy of a cheap program, but if he was a child molester or murdered someone, then he probably would have gotten less time. The justice system is a joke and this proves it.

Legally right vs Morally right

I could be very wrong about this but i'm just saying what i believe:

I think that if you wouldn't buy a programme, for whatever reason, financial or if it just doesn't appeal to you, it isn't to bad to pirate/crack it. Companies wouldn't make any less money because you wouldn't have bought it anyway. It's a different story if you generate income from it or run a business from it but I, for example, am only 14 and there's no possibility for me to buy an expensive product such as Photoshop or Fireworks or whatever because it's simply just too expensive. Maybe I'm wrong, feel free to critisize...

Then why
pirate/crack it.

No matter how you look at it, The_Muggar ...it's still a form of theft, ~thereby punishable by law.

And some places (and states) have jailed parents for crimes committed by the child.

Yes and yes.

You are wrong, and you are just saying what you believe.

The first is an oft-used excuse for theft...the second we take your word on as being truthful....

I hav just taken off all my illegal software (sorry stardock, objectdock plus and windowblinds were tempting).

I feel that it has come between my and God and broken my relationship with my heavenly father.

Also i think wincustomize has taken up too much of my time (im addicted) and im goin to try remove it from my life.

I just want to take all things that don't bring me closer to God away.

Sorry to all software developers...
