When Microsoft revealed the next version of Office, one of the most talked about upgrades was the "ribbon" menu system. I personally liked the ribbon interface, but Microsoft was hit with many complaints about it.

In the next technical refresh of Office 2007 the ribbon menus will be set to automatically minimize when not in use. This is very similar to auto-hiding your taskbar in Windows. There will also be other menu improvements in the next beta scheduled to be released to testers soon.

I like the ribbon also, but I think they need an option to turn it off and show toolbars

Read nitwits who are still running @ 800x600 have got hold of this due to the public release of beta two and have had a huge bey-atch that it takes up the majority of their screens. Hopefully I can turn this "auto minimise" off, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

I, too, like the ribbon. That was the first thing I noticed when I fired it up. It is a good design imo. Agree with Meowy about the option.

I love the ribbon..... I have a feeling it will end up in the dustbin with Bob (whom I didn't love), and have just a few "design cues" survive.

Sucks.... the 640x480 / 800x600 people need to get some fing glasses and bigger screens.
