And so it continues.....

Apple today announced the recall of 1.8 million batteries, mainly affecting iBook G4 and Powerbook G4 laptops sold between October 2003 and August 2006.

While no reports of laptops catching on fire, as with Dell, users have complained of minors burns and excessive heat from their computers.

Sony has confirmed the batteries used in the Apple laptops are the same faulty battery cells that were used in the Dell batteris.

If you have one of these Apple laptops visit the site below for more information.

"While no reports of laptops catching on fire"...

That's not so, though. I've heard of several such incidents. iJournalists just try to pretend it's not so.

Here's a pretty example.

For one I would like to see a battery catch on fire without melting first from extreme heat or even a laptop catch on fire without melting and being warped from extreme heat first. You have to have no commonsense to not see a laptop is starting to look odd in shape or wonder why it's so hot.

Peoples theory: If I get hurt I get a lot of money in a lawsuite. Effect of Peoples theory: I have a lot of money now, but I have to pay hospital bill and I can't go anywhere to spend it. Then they run out of money and go on disability. Fact of Peoples theory: There only disability was there lack of commonsense.

Hmmm my laptop runs hot and does not sit flat on a table, but it's ok I will still use it.
Thats if it still runs off of that battery that is.

What does Sony have to do with Apple?

Apple is more then likely rejecting your serial, becuase the battery you got with yours is not that brand that is a problem. You either got it before they started using those batteries or after.

Turns out my Powerbook G4 is affected by this issue.  The best part though?  They say to stop using the completely completely until a replacement can be shipped to you.  How long do they say it'll take to get the new battery?  4-6 weeks.  If this were my primary machine, I couldn't afford to be out of the water that long, I'd just have to risk it.
