A new month means a new forum thread giving you the opportunity to post your desktop for other members to see. We have quite a few desktops being shown already, and several are running the Prowler skin, which looks awesome. Head over to the forum thread and post your desktop!
There has been quite a bit of DesktopX news over the past week, beginning with the opening of the Desktop Gadets gallery on WinCustomize. Over the weekend, one of our DX whizzes, sViz, has started a feature called “ I Love DesktopX ”. She shows some featured skins created with DesktopX, and gives some tips and tricks to go along with them. This is really fantastic and I hope to see more.
As I said in the other news post, this was a long and busy week. We had many things going on in both the skinning and gaming communities, and I wanted to give a wrap-up of some of the things going on lately. Ever wonder what the most popular skins are that people are downloading? You won’t believe how many skins you sometimes miss, and looking through the most popular section is another fun way to stay up to date with skins. Here are some of the most popular skins currently in the WinCustomize galleries.
To help new users, and possibly more experienced users, I decided to start a new series of guides and tutorials called ‘A Complete Desktop Theme – Start to Finish’. The basic premise is to build a complete desktop theme starting from the boot screen all the way through the various options on your desktop. This week we start off with covering customizing the boot screen, logon screen, and the Windows cursors. If you know someone who’s looking for information on how to get star...
It’s been a while since we added a new gallery to WinCustomize, and today I’m happy to announce the addition of the Desktop Gadgets gallery! The Desktop Gadgets gallery are for stand-alone gadgets that are created with DesktopX Pro . The advantage to these gadgets over widgets, is that they do not require DesktopX to be installed, and can run on virtually any Windows XP or Vista desktop. The ability to export gadgets like these are well worth upgrade to D...
The Moderation queue is filling up more and more every day. The skins are rolling in and it seems even I am having a hard time keeping up with what is coming through. All types of skins are coming in too, by both old and new faces. Here is a quick look at some of the latest skins submitted. Keep up the great work!
Just last week, we released the latest WinCustomize Subscriber Premium skin, Aero Frost . I was pleased to see a Master .dream from TheMasterBaron waiting to be made public this morning, called Parasite . It was a pleasure testing it out, and I’m very confident you will enjoy it as well. As usual, TheMasterBaron has taken great care to create a very smoothly and beautiful animation that works well with all types of WindowBlinds themes. Remember, if you are a WinCustomize subscriber you get a 20% discount on all Master skins. To use .dreams (animated wallpape...
Monday, the fresh start of the new week, aren’t you excited? Well in case you were busy this weekend and missed some of the skins that came through, no worries, here are some of my favorite picks from the weekend.
Friday is always a great day for content, and besides other features we can always count on Zoomba to give us Impulse Weekly. Impulse Weekly is a newsletter with the latest info about releases, sales, upcoming titles, etc. on the Impulse platform. Some notable mentions are more THQ titles being released, a Kalypso media sale, and a peek at some upcoming updates.
Coffee….check. Music….check. This Week in Skinning…..check. Well that seems about it for today, the three important Friday things are about done, so does that mean we can all go home now? Of course I’m just kidding, much more work is to be done, and that is why TWiS is here to help you check out skins that you might have missed otherwise during the week. Check it out now!
The talk about Windows 7 is greatly increasing, and so are the questions about how skinning will be with Windows 7. While it’s still quite early, and features in Windows 7 are still subject to change, Frogboy gives a great visual tours of some UI elements in Windows 7. He also goes into slight detail about what we might see with WindowBlinds 7.
One of the galleries that doesn’t get a lot of attention is the Sound Schemes gallery for SoundPackager . While not as flashy as some other galleries, there have been some fantastic sound packages uploaded recently, and everyone should take a minute to check them out. If you are new to what SoundPackager is, the simplest way to describe is it’s like IconPackager for sounds. You can change Windows sounds individually, or create and use packs of sound schemes that are found her...
WinCustomize Subscribers have the benefit of receiving premium WindowBlinds skins as a part of their subscription, and today we have the release of the latest skin, Aero Frost. Aero Frost is a skin based on the Aero look of Vista, and greatly improves on it with a lighter, “frost” touch to it. I have been using this skin for a bit, and I highly recommend it. It’s a perfect skin for someone who wants a more minimal desktop, or just something that is more ...
