Master Skinner SKOriginals wrote an article today that I think might benefit skinners of all experience levels.  This article is about the Blur feature and the effects on Shadowing.  He puts the theory through some tests, and then writes an interesting conclusion. Check it out!

One of my personal favorite skin galleries to watch is the ObjectDock gallery .  I'm always keeping an eye out for a dock background to match the WindowBlinds skin I am running.  We have several very talented skinners who always seem to keep us up to date with matching skins. These are of the latest backgrounds that caught my eye.

We often get asked for tips on how we pick skins to be featured on the front page of WinCustomize or in various articles such as This Week in Skinning.  We also get quite a few questions on tips for uploading to WinCustomize which make skins much more likely to get through moderation. I put together a "Tips for Uploading and Moderation" guide so new users, and even experienced one's, can get a sense of what helps when submitting a skin for moderation. View the article here . ...

For those that have been around for a long time and/or have used Stardock Support even once you have likely heard of Mike aka Milksama. On this day July 28th in the year 2008 Milksama ascends from support into the realm of Developer. You may or may not have heard that Milksama has been coding on the side for some time with Stardock. Having been with the company near three years now he has paid his dues and is being raised from the proverbial "front lines". Read the rest of the post fr...

After a short hiatus the WinCustomize SkinCast is back, and the 15th episode means that we have made it to where the original "Under the Skin" podcast ended.  For this special episode we have non other than one of the hosts of Under the Skin joining us this week.  DoctorNick (aka qrush) sits down with us and gives us a history of the WinCustomize podcasts, and also tells us about some of the projects he worked on while interning at Stardock. Episode 15 - Now Leading Where Under ...

In June of 2007 I sat down and wrote a two-part review of the 1st generation iPhone that was released.  It was only natural that I follow that with a new review of the recent iPhone 3G and 2.0 software update. Once again, I give a "real world" perspective on the iPhone and whether or not you should consider it.

Last time I asked people to take a quick screenshot of what they were doing at the moment on their desktop.  This time I thought I would mix it up a bit and post a screenshot of what you have on your dock. This is my laptop dock, nothing too special here, just running ObjectDock Plus  with several tabs divided into categories of frequently used apps.  Ok folks, take a snap of your desktop dock.

For this edition of WinCustomize Member Spotlight I wanted to focus on a member who does some truly incredible work with DesktopX .  That member would be Journeyman Vad M.  He has been a member of WinCustomize since August of 2004 and since then has contributed to several galleries including CursorFX, wallpapers, and logons, but what Vad M is most known for is his fantastic work with DesktopX. Vad shows the power of DesktopX with widgets such as the SD SkinChecker and the S...

Back towards the beginning the year, I started a thread on the WinCustomize forums giving ski nners the opportunity to give us previews and "sneak peeks" of works in progress.  That thread had well over 1200 replies , many of which were actual previews of skins that were eventually released. Since the GUI Champs are starting to ramp up, and skinning is still going strong even over the summer months, I opened up a "part II" of that thread to get a fresh start.  So if you have any sk...
