Geno here; still 86 and living in Senior Apartments in Camas, WA.  Got both shots at the VA and felt secure.  Then suddenly, I got a kidney disease called Nephrotic Syndrome............from taking asprin.  Just got through with 8 months of horrendous treatments and I am now in remission.  Was worried about Covid, just like everyone else, and wham, out of left field......kidney.  Just goes to show ya;  LIFE CAN BE DANGEROUS TO YOU HEALTH.....!.

It sure can!  I had another fall last Friday [30.04.21] and suffered damage to my right shoulder/upper chest area.  I was fumbling around in the dark to turn my bedside lamp on when I lost my balance and landed awkwardly on my right elbow... and geez, didn't it hurt.... and then some. Trouble is, since I was diagnosed with vertigo and diabetes, my balance hasn't been the greatest at the best of times, but in the dark it's even worse because I often can't see anything to get my bearings, etc.

Thing is, though I landed firstly on my elbow, my arm was pushed upward and probably dislocated my shoulder as well as injure my collarbone.  I say that because the actual shoulder joint is quite sore.  Luckily it went straight back in, but it's the collarbone area that's causing the greatest pain and discomfort.  I don't think anything is broken, it feels more like soft tissue damage and it may be that I have torn some ligaments and muscle during the fall.

If it doesn't improve by Monday [10.05.21] I shall go to my doctor to get it properly assessed, just in case the damage is more serious than I first thought.

I have some very low light LEDs at strategic locations to keep me oriented when I move around at night.

We usually have some low-light LEDs set up to help with night movements, but we recently moved and thus far have not been able to access the box they're packed in.  I certainly won't be able to locate them while struggling with this pain, but I have a couple of housemates looking for them for me.

It's one of the most niggling and uncomfortable injuries I've ever had.  I can't cough, sneeze or fart without the pain reaching a 7 or 8 out of 10.  While I'm using my left arm/hand to do any lifting and most tasks, it still aggravates the injury on the right.

Happy to say today I got my second vaccine. Fully vaxed now.

Oh what fun....attempting to survive my first AZ jab on Thursday.....currently at second round of fever....

Bit rich having just got over a spider bite....with massive temperature followed by cellulitis and a round of anti-biotics.

Some prick out there clearly wants me dead....

I was bitten by a whitetail spider in the late 90's and took almost a year to fully recover.  I was rushed to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with a massive temperature the morning after the bite... I spent close to a month in there with a flesh eating bacteria that ate away much of my left calf and left a big hole there.  I was eventually discharged once they'd halted the necrotising of my leg, but it took another 10 months or more for the wound to heal.

I get my second Astra Zeneca shot on July 6 and I'll hopefully be covered against Covid.  The first shot was painless and I suffered no ill-effects, so I'm not concerned about the second dose despite various reports highlighting blood clots and other issues.

Everything is going well here in sunny socialist Victoria with our glorious leader proclaiming a easing in restrictions . But on the serious side, we are all healthy, no sign of COVID, both my partner and 92 year old father in law are vaccinated now. as for myself, i just spent a month in hospital due to a strangulated bowel which resulted in a 10 centimetre section of my small bowel being removed resulting in my now need to wear a bag to catch my poo lol. It was serious for awhile with me being placed in a medically induced coma for 9 days because my body went into sepsis and most of my organs decided to shut down. i had 4 surgeries in 5 days to fix me up and a 2 week stay in ICU then into the ward of Bendigo hospital for another 3 weeks. Well i am back at home, recovering well, my organs are working well again. still a ways to go but what should have killed me did not. On the plus side i lost 30 kilograms while all this went on so that's a good thing. As for my vaccinations, my doctor has advised me against it for the time being, he wants me to wait until i am further recovered which makes sense. I can't have the Astrazenica vaccine because i have already had 3 major DVT's in my leg so the risks of  further blood clots are a lot higher for me so once i am allowed i will me getting the Pfizer variant instead. Well that's my check in. I hope everyone is healthy and well and staying safe. Take care   

Hey Nimbin, long time no see.  It's good to see you after so long, though reading of your health issues wasn't good.  That sepsis is a damned horrible thing.  Shaunna ended up with it earlier in the year from a small scratch on her leg and spent a couple of weeks in Launceston General Hospital.;  It was touch and go for a while that she may end up losing that leg.  Fortunately, they got it under control and she fully recovered.

I had the AstraZeneca first shot and had no issues with blood clots, though I do have a narrowing of an artery in my lower left leg.  My doctor didn't think it would pose a threat so I went ahead with the first jab undeterred.  There has been a lot of talk about the AstraZeneca vaccine posing risks, and then they lowered the age to 60's and above, but I am 68 and wasn't worried.

As I read it, you are better off with the Phizer shot, and hopefully you can receive it soon.  The alternative is Covid and not something anybody would want.
