Never cared for SoaSE myself.

I'm just happy when smart people make quality games so that other people can obsess over them.  If I allowed myself to like everything I'd never get anything done anyway

YES!   More RTS is sorely needed these days!   The genre is resting right now as Grey Goo isn't good enough so there's only StarCraft II that's a big title right now.

I'm hoping for Servo to be smallscale (Dawn of War) where skill matters (using abilities and being fast). Something like Supreme Commander is not interesting to me.

Laser gun turret means a combat RTS. There's a few different fairly benign-looking robot units there. Most of those buildings look randomly placed and generated, some of them amped by power to make them stronger?

Based solely on this image alone, my guess is that gameplay and win conditions are based upon sprawl, perhaps cities themselves combatting eachother, with decreased emphasis on unit combat.

EDIT: looking at the servo website, it appears I'm wrong, there will be unit combat. So I wonder what is new about this RTS, then.

I'm the opposite, I hate twitch based RTS. I prefer grand scale where strategy matters more than quick reflexes.

I'm sorta over games with units that shoot each other now. What's the point if you can just amass enough wealth to buy out your opponents?

RTS is dead, long live RTS!

Website update pushed back to this Wednesday, March 4th?  There's been a ninja website edit.

I thought Grey Goo was very good, but to each his own. I really dont like those cps (click per second) games, so i am with Wintercross.

Its not bad per se, but its terribly bland IMO. And i have a feeling, its because they are saving lot of additional content for the DLCs/expansions...and all that in situation, when the vanilla game itself is already quite expensive.

Otherwise, i am with Wintercross on this too. For me, Rebellion is the ultimate RTS.

The one Thing that i would agree was bland, was unit design.

The world, the cut scenes and even the briefing is very high production value i thought.

And sure hope there will be DLC, because the game ended in a damn cliffhanger.

Yeah, thats what i meant. The CGI stuff, the narrative, the visuals....everything was well polished and deserves praise no doubt. Its just the basic gameplay and boring factions/units, what has disapppointed me. But it has clearly its fans, too bad i cant say i am one of them. Maybe with additional units/factions it will change. I was not that much of a fan of CnC Generals until Zero Hour either...

I really enjoyed Generals with the Zero Hour expansion... however I did mod the game to suit my tastes.
I removed the magical homing ability of cannon rounds etc, made machine guns barely scratch tanks, tweaked things so it was a little more realistic and so on...

Heads up, the official site was updated with new info. Looks interesting, but sadly I have too many games to play as it is. Will likely wait until it is released.

So this is a PvP game? No single player option?

So this is a PvP game? No single player option?

Story Campaign

Build out your Servos and fight your way through 25 story missions that span galaxies. Start on barren asteroid outposts, gathering parts and learning to control your team of Servos. Land on distant mining moons, fighting hostile Bloomspawn and rival Servos. Journey through the wormhole and back to Old Earth for a confrontation with the fearsome Steelskins. As you unlock new parts and fill your Hangar with Servos, you'll take on ever more challenging opponents. Only the toughest Servo teams will survive and learn the truth about the Bloom.

Features:

  • 25 single-player campaign missions
  • Uncover the secrets of the Wormhole: who opened it, and what it means for the future of both galaxies
  • Fight mutant Bloomspawn and alien races with unique Servos
  • Earn parts and pilots only found in Story mode

It also has a Co-op mode, beside the PVP.

Will there be an option to play games with bots(computer controlled opponents)?

on Mar 04, 2015

Thanks for posting that. The marketing copy I saw only mentioned PvP.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of linear campaigns. 25 is a lot, but once you play them, that's it.

But man, the idea of building up a bad ass tank is cool.
