I have never really followed the Olympics.  I'm not a big sports person in general, so I guess maybe that's the base of it, but I really have no desire to watch or follow anything going on with the Olympics.

Does anyone here watch the Olympics?

OK....I may take up watching speed skating again...

Would've been alright if she'd had a little more than fried eggs in there... may as well have been a Russian male athlete.

Like a male character said in a movie I once saw about the publishing world: "This picture is worthless without cleavage."

One sport I think should be included in the Winter Games... Polar Bear Wrestling.

Or there again... Yeti Leapfrog.

Yes, I'm in a mischievous mood this evening.... trying to contain it, I really am, but every so often a bit snaps free and there it is

It happens when one has too much time on his hands and the allure of the TV so soon after the Winter Olympics just isn't strong enough.

Hm

About slaves, believe me Russia was on of the first country where slaves was prohibited, this is not moral here. Workers from asia countries dreaming to work in Russia, because salaries are very high.

About trees, yes, some trees was cut off, but was planted in two times more in other place.

About dogs and wolves, those girl on YouTube, US athlete that shows a wolf in her room in Olympic village,

that was a fake event, this video was captured in USA than she upload it as a video from Olympic game

I do not know who and for what trying to show Russians as a backward evil nation, I just can guess that American elite just afraid that american citizens will find that their life style not the best in the world.

Every time when Russia starts to became strong, capitalistic countries trying to stop it , throw mud on Russian people, supports freaks who saying that he will destroy Russia

May be american citizens will agree with this politics, everyone has their own truth, but this politic is not for Americans but just for american elite...

Also, I just wonder, I'm watching american cartoons and there is always one idea, when you are trying to do meanness for someone it always turn against you. So, every american got to know this simple truth from childhood but why it happens again and again.

When Russia became a most powerful country in the europe in 19 century western countries sponsoring Russia revolution, LENIN and communism in  Russia, as a result death, starvation, blood, violence and degradation of the Russia, but when after several years LENIN and his bandit click was removed from the government of Russia, Russia again became very strong

And US again supports another maniac - HITLER... Probably US government thought that nATIZ will destroy USSR but on practice this fight made from USSR even more powerful country, one big military factory was builder every day, can you imagine this scale.

and if Russian was really an evil they even was able to enslave the world, but this is not the option for russian people

Than, after those destructive war many years Russia was in ruins  but in 80th again became strong so US and Europe again starts to support maniacs, on this time it was Ben Laden and AL Qaeda, that was actively sponsoring by western countries, mainly US and GB for fighting with USSR.

So, as we are know than BenLaden starts to fight against America and other western countries.....

USSR stand in this fight and again became strong, after 1985 year, western countries again put all power to destroy Russia, on this time was used DEMOCRACY and many many venal politics(gorbachev), artists(Stallone, Schwarzenegger etc) , singers(scorpions and other rockers), democracy advissors, cocacola and jeans (haha) that was prohibited in USSR in those time.

So USSR was destroyed.

If before in USSR, we are all was happy, free flats, free medicine, free schools, universities, you shouldn't be worry about tomorrow. We are do not know about chemical food, crime, prostitution, narcotics, terrorists etc

But when US bring democracy life became like a hell, violence on the streets, corruption, no food, scare, never ending stress and worries about the future.

While We was need to stand in line from 4 am for a several hours to bay a one loaf of bread (norm for one person) US democracy advisors advice to our government to trash the food. Million tons of food was destroyed on the trash dump in those time. Bandits with Kalashnikov pick money from every businessmen and many other awful things things It was "democracy" of 90th years...

So everybody hates this kind of democracy in Russia and again venal politics (that calling a democrats in US) was removed from Russia goverment, russia again became strong, it was shown in this Olympic games. And this is why this olympic games is so annoying for elites of western countries, this is why they use their media channels to show the Russia in the bad light.

And now US and EU again supports terrorists and natiz in Ukraine. Kerry calls those people democrats and good people because they promising to kill Russians. It is a shame. But also this is very dangerous for people of US and EU because when those terrorist became strong they will go to the western countries and as you understand they will not do nothing good there.... As an example last terr-acts in Boston that was made by two guys from Dagestan, one Russia region where US supporting "democrats"(al qaeda terrorists) that killing hundred of children in the russian schools and making terracts.

Also,I'm living near of Afghanistan and US again supporting al qaeda there to fight with Russia and this fight will be in my country that placing between Russia and Afghanistan. And I'm really scared for the lives of my family.

Sad, when Russia fighting with terrorists - they are aggressors, evil, when US supporting terrorist, they - supporting democracy....

PS

when I writing US I do not mean american people,

I have many friends in US, and they all really great guys,

When I'm saying US here I mean hidden american elites who making a politic. They are a really evil, not all of cause.

Every nation has it is own bad and good guys. And mainly all people everywhere are the same.

I just want to ask you to not believe in propaganda!

If you do not like Olympic games it is OK, but if you do not like this game in Russia because of those dirty stories that western media showing, you are not right believe me...

Sorry Jafo

I also do not want to make a politic debates here

Also the meaning of the Olympic games is stop to fight and forget about all differences at least on time of Olympic games

But when I see how some media trying to politicize olympic games, trying to push on people who do not agree with them it makes me really sad.

Some of you will not believe in what I'm saying but it is really hard times now, and we've got to not repeat those mistakes that was made 100 years ago (1914 first and than second world wars) In this time wars will be much destructive than before.

Hope we will live in peace and do not allow to mass media to brainwash us

On the subject of my interest in the Olympics... Absolutely no interest in watching that disastrously boring sports saga.

I think the original intention, many nations coming together to compete in friendly sports, was great. Now, there is so much political tension. It becomes a contest of who has the most to show off.

I mean, look at this year's Olympics. Animals that were previously allowed to run the streets of the city were suddenly being poisoned and shot because the population was out of hand. If the issue had been addressed when it first surfaced, it could have been taken care of properly. The Olympics are nothing more than a case of keeping up with the Jones'.

The Olympics are nothing more than a case of keeping up with the Jones'.

Worse.... far, far worse!  These days the Olympics isn't about keeping up with the Jonses, it's more about the most powerful nations beating lesser nations into submission and humiliating them with 'extreme wins' they can never hope to match, much less beat.  Worse still, the oscene amounts of money the wealthier nations spend on hosting and competing in the Olympics... just to prove: "Oh look, my dick's bigger than yours."

I won't name the country most guilty of this 'tragic Olympic Mind-set', if the shoe fits then wear it, but Australia has certainly caught the disease and feels it is entitled to gold medals based on the money it has spent to get there, regardless of whether the athletes are competitive enough or not.

Gone are the days when it was "let the best team/athlete win", and in comes all this political crap, sports science to enhance athletes abilities and performances.  Well I say fech that, it's not sport anymore. In fact, I have lost as certain amount of interest in my 2 favourite games, rugby league and cricket, for the very fact that too much emphasis is placed on winning via money and sports science.

On the other side of the coin is when a player's monetary worth is considered far more important than his or her ability/skill.  Far oo many athletes/players these days make the team based on factors [name, fame, prestige] other than for their actual contribution to the team, and when that happens, loyal fans are betrayed by the sub-par performances of players who should have retired or been cut from the team a  while back... the English cricket team is a classic example of this right now, and the ECB should sack the lot of them and start from scratch.

What are these "Olympics' of which you speak?  Is this a sitcom version of the venerable Greek Pantheon?  "Full Temple?" "Zeus, we hardly knew ya?"  j/k  I don't watch any of the sports except figure skating and curling.  I don't like the politicization of these events.  But consider who the teams represent -nations.  The victors' national flags go up for the three top winners.  National anthems are played.  Its political from the get go - by its very nature - so I'm not surprised by all the political posturing and intrigue.  To boycott, or not to boycott, that is the question.  Again a political consideration - and no nations I know of are completely clean of some sort of abuse.  If having Olympics siphons some of the nationalistic feuding from a military to a sporting venue - well sounds like a step in the right direction to me.  Think N. Korea will ever host?  Now only if I actually liked watching sports.  I like curling!

Only if they depose or assassinate the crackpot in charge of the place...you know, the one who goes around executing people for simply critisising him...  yup, that's the one, the baby faced one with the f***ed-up haircut... the one whose tantrums progressed from throwing toys our of his cot to hurling live missiles at S Korea just to piss everybody off.

In other words, they've a snowball's chance in Hell of hosting the Olympics while that wanker is in charge.

The thing is, do you do it yourself at home with those new fangled heated curlers, or do you pop down the hairdresser's cos you can get your hair curled, have a chin-wag and catch up on alll the latest gossip all at the same time? Me, I'd go for the latter, if my last visit to the hairdressers was anything to go by. 'Twas a long time ago but I'll never forget

Yeah, the lass doing my hair kept pushing her chest into my face and excusing herself with: "Ooops, sorry about that, but they do tend to get in the way when I'm reaching for something."  Yeah, right, lady, as I muttered "I'm sure your arms are longer than that" under my breath.

Yes, UNDER my breath!  Well I didn't wanna go saying something that would have made her think she had to stop.

Ah, those were the days, when I had women throwing themselves at me.  Nowadays they only throw fruit and stuff... and I'm not as adept at ducking as I used to be.

you did leave a very generous tip, yes?     The curling I like to watch uses brooms and big slidy objects.

In a manner of speaking, yes.... we dated for a while and shared a common interest in horse riding.  We each owned our own horses so it was easy to spend an entire weekend riding in the bush... and yes, it was true what they say about girls who liked to ride horses.

I knew that [in my best Fonzie voice].  I recall watching a game some years back when I lived in the UK - I lived in Devon in the South-West, but we had a large Scots community who staged a comp each winter - and found it quite interesting.  There was a street in a nearby town which froze up and they used it to stage the games... with the pavement either side packed with spectators, not to mention all those hanging out of the 3 pubs with pints in their hands.

Funnily enough, my aunt [mother's sister] was a hairdresser and she spent some time in Scotland managing a salon for her then boyfriend, and when she returned to Devon for the Christmas holidays she took us to the Curling because he was playing with one of the teams.
