I just wanted to start a thread for Battlefield 4 as I know there are some fans here as well.  I just ordered mine from Amazon and it's pre-loading now on Origin.

Amazon has BF4 with a $5 credit.

I might pick it up for the Xbox One as well, but we'll see how it goes.

I was a fan of the Battlefield series for many years.  Played BF since Battlefield 1942 (still my favourite in the entire series!), but I think 'battlefield' has run it's course for me.  I won't be picking this one up.  Too much of the same same same......

The Battlefield franchise has become too much like the COD franchise for me (played the series from the first until 1 or 2 iterations ago).  Loved COD 1 and 2 (2 was probably my favourite in the series) and held on until Black Ops.

Plus quite honestly I still haven't forgiven EA/DICE/whomever for screwing us with MOH 2010.  Medal of Honor 2010 was a fantastic game.  But it was painfully obvious they released MOH2010 and moved on to BF3.  No after sales support at all from EA/DICE while they released pay-for DLC to finance their new project BF3.  Now they've done it again MOH Warfighter was just a 'warm-up' of BETA for BF4.  Sorry, not on that train anymore.......

I am about to preorder Call of Duty: Ghosts, its more of mine cup of tea than Battlefield i guess, i prefer the gun on gun gameplay instead of screwing around in vehicles...

Looks like a client update went out this morning.

http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf4/forum/threadview/2955065217944685108/

1) Reduce the number of crashes
We believe this update will solve a large portion of the most commonly occuring game crashes, and the improvement in overall stability should make a big difference for many players.

2) Eliminate a network sync bug
If you’ve been experiencing situations in multiplayer where it appears that you are taking damage from enemies through walls, you might have been the victim of a network sync bug. In this game update, we have identified and eliminated one such bug that caused this type of gameplay experience. We are continuing to work on more multiplayer optimizations concerning network performance.

3) Improve Network Smoothing

We have made some improvements to the ”Network Smoothing” functionality that you can find in the OPTIONS>GAMEPLAY menu. The Network Smoothing slider governs a group of settings that aim to produce a tighter multiplayer experience based on your specific packet loss situation.

If you’ve been experimenting with the Network Smoothing slider earlier, it might now yield better results. If you haven’t tried it before, please explore this setting and set it to the lowest value you can without experiencing graphical glitches in the game. By setting it lower, you can get a tighter multiplayer experience, depending on your specific network situation.

More details upcoming
Besides the above mentioned focus areas, this PC game update contains a number of other fixes and tweaks that we will detail once it’s live.

Might have to try more tomorrow. I'm starting to wish I had a flight stick. I might need to dig out my XBOX controller out of storage.

I actually just put in a refund request for it this morning. I played it last night and did not enjoy it that much.

  • The performance is pretty bad on multiplayer matches.
  • The load times were terrible (5 min).
  • The engagement zone seemed way to small. In the F35 I had to just about constantly turn to avoid running off the map.
  • It also just did not seem that much fun to me.

I might pick it up later after it's been patched up with optimizations and comes down in price. I'm pretty picky about first person shooters in general. The only one I bought since Golden Eye has been Borderlands I and II.

Side Note: Why does EA not have a comment section on their refund page. At least I couldn't find it. I want to give feedback. Ah well.

PC update coming tomorrow, December 3rd.

The upcoming PC game update will launch December 3, to coincide with the launch of the expansion pack Battlefield 4 China Rising for Premium members on all platforms.

The game update will start to roll out at 1AM PST/10AM UTC Dec 3, followed by the actual China Rising content around 2AM PST/11AM UTC. You can expect some downtime around these times as servers are being prepared to support this new content.

The change list for this PC game update is the same as previously announced (see below.)

As ususal, we will continue to iterate on stability and tweak the game based on your feedback. Stay tuned.

Dec 3 PC Game Update Notes
-Removed the blur effect on soldiers that appeared when Commanders were using EMP attacks
-Fixed the audio bug where audio sometimes randomly dropped out while playing on certain multiplayer maps (typically Golmud Railway and Hainan Resort)
-Fixed the "one-hit kill bug" where occasionally damage from a single bullet was applied multiple times
-Fixed a common crash that would occur when exiting from the Single Player Campaign to Main Menu
-Tweaked the network and computer performance screen to show proper values. Players can now test their computer and network connection and get recommendations if they need to adjust something to improve their gameplay experience

Battlefield 2: Project Reality mod more or less was the pinnacle of what I felt Battlefield could become ... other than shiny graphics and smooth game-play animations (they really did a good job here), the actual game-play itself seems lack-luster with the shrinking down of class variance and smaller / more compact level design to cater to the more run-n-gun crew. Not saying it's necessarily a bad game, just that it has moved away from what I have enjoyed the most.
