Thanks Guy's...  Windowblinds has fixed the only thing I did not like about Windows 8....
That's nice, now, didn't you have a blind to finish?

Fantastical!

Many thanks to Stardock and the Stardock team.

Just bought my copy and am currently using Windows 7. Do I need to uninstall the previous version of Windowblinds before installing this one?

on Jun 21, 2013

Thanks for the replies, guys. That's too bad Stardock no longer supports Vista. The only way I will upgrade to Windows 7 or 8 is if I get a new computer and since I am out of work right now it's not likely to happen anytime soon. But on the bright side I still have many (500-600+) Windows Vista and Windows 7 WindowBlinds skins on my computer to enjoy! So I shouldn't be too bad off!

Well hot damn, WindowBlinds 8 is showing up on Major Geeks for todays downloads, that was quick.

At CNET too. I just got an email from them. So off to the SD Store I went and dl'd it from there. One thing though...After rebooting I got a pop up that said Index listing is out of bounds(0). Should I be concerned?

Downloaded my copy from the Stardock Store and proceeded to install it. It said I had to uninstall Version 7.x in order to install Version 8.

I Proceeded to uninstall and selected the advance option and eventually uninstalled Version 7. I noticed that ALL my installed themes were deleted/uninstalled as well.

Is this intended? I have not installed Version 8 yet.

Andrew

Did you make a back up for the skins folder first? The new install will give you what comes with version 8. I know there is/was an option to keep the skins folder instead of deleting them. Otherwise you'll need to dl the ones you had. Somebody know more?

Hi Uvah,

I did not backup my skins folder as I thought that the uninstall would not delete my skins.

Oh well, it is not a train smash.

I will remember for future.

Hi Zubaz,

I wonder if to be involved in a software development team, one has to have a brain...?

1/ Almost everybody nowadays owns a 4:3 for some or 16:9 monitor for the vast majority, so switching from landscape view to portrait in the main configuration window is really an improvement..

2/ I don't know for you b ut I use windowblinds, beside it's ability to skin, to roll up windows. With this V8, using a masterskin, jakuta for example, let's roll up notepad.. or any subsystem windows...

So... Back to 7.41 for a while I guess.. !

It certainly is an unusual strategy to get assistance by insulting the developers on the developers own forums.

1) The default size of the WindowBlinds8 configuration UI is wider than it is tall, in fact the aspect ratio is more like 16:10 aspect ratio.  The window is resizable so you can make it wider or taller as per your need.  The main advantage of the new UI design is the ability to see many more skins in the skins list as the older design was very limited in this regard.

2) Unfortunately you have not provided any details of what the problem is other than you apparently have an issue with roll up.  It would have been helpful to provide details on a problem if you are interested in having it resolved.

I was about to post a nasty reply to her/him. However, I bit my tongue and decided not to stoop to her/his level. Thank you for addressing that Neil.

I am on Windows 8. This issue seems to be skin specific. Jakuta was out well before Windows 8 was.

Now, you haven't stated your OS, But I don't see this problem on 7. Just on Win 8.

It's been my experience that some skins roll up better than others, regardless of Master status. It is entirely up to the skinner how it appears in that mode.

Xiandi, for instance, does a marvelous job with her blinds in that regard.
