Yeah, the Kol just won't be the Kol without it. I don't know how you could stick cannons that big on a turret on the front of the ship not look ridiculous.

while i too imagined the colony ship to be larger, it's possible it is "colonizing" an inhabited world (they all have militia) and just bringing administrators to bring it under control.  like how India was a British colony (as opposed to to the US).

umm, the US was populated before it was "colonized" too...

I agree with your general point though. It seem like the planets were already populated before whichever power "colonized" it just imposed their will on them. in fact part of the whole strategy the Vasari use is using humans on planets they conquer as slave labor, setting themselves up in floating cities to separate themselves from the general population. In history, even when colonizers wiped out the previous populations, they did so over centuries, using them for their knowledge and labor in the mean time

Correct. They are marching like soldiers not civilians. They are loading up onto the ship and will likely invade a planet once they reach their destination.

Of course as you say they may just be marching to the ship to clean it and then get right off again?

 

P.S. Can we have supply lines like I have used recently in wargame: european escalation. It changes the game a lot to have to resupply?

Then again with ships as huge as that coloniser (not), I guess they will never need resupply. Put them into cryosleep and wake them up when needed. I have certainly hated it how a ship can stay on station indefinitely blockading a planet while all its lines behind are cut. Also RAIDs should be limited by captured and provided supply lines.

Does anyone else feel that the Kols front Cannons need to be changed to be more in line with the way the Star base Beam Arrays are?  I don't like how there are Four cannons that should only be able to fire in a direct line but they do not.  they can fire in a 180 degree arc.  To me, those  Cannons need to be replaced withtheones on the Star base the U shaped ones to better match its firing arcs.  those would be better looking I think.  anyone else disagree?

actually if you look on the kol especially in this trailer.

you can see a cyclinder behind the gauss guns for rotation.

Just looking at a Vasari titan ship. It fits with their other ships. But it will put me off playing them.

It just does not look like a super capital ship but rather a giant flower or slow moving space turret.

Its just CG but the game is going towards looking like that. We just need more CPU cores and it won't be a problem after the new engine is finished.

Woooow beautiful... Is it in game video ? I knew the graphismsware updated and I already saw screenies but is it that beautiful when playing ??? Gosh, I'm such in a hurry !!!

 

But... What about the space ponies ? Will they be a secret unlockable race ? 

No, just kidding butseriously, somebody got to make a mod of it !!!

I agree, that would be Awesome but I think that is how big the planets should be so then we can see miniature size nukes exploding or planet rays bombarding the surface of those planets. Why not just call it RealScaleRealTime4XStrategy game and add some depth into RT4X.

I also noticed that IGN put this trailer on their front page, which is really nice.

More publicity is always helpful, especially for a small company like stardock. This appears to be a brilliant marketing move.
