Today we have released a beta update to WindowBlinds.  WindowBlinds lets users change the complete look and feel of Windows using skins which can be downloaded from sites like WinCustomize.com.

www.windowblinds.net

This beta update includes:

  • Directory Opus fixes
  • SyncBack / SyncBackSE / SyncBack Pro fixes. There are still some menu text colour issues with some skins, but thats skin-specific.
  • KVIrc - Black scrollbar resolved along with some other issues linked to the QT framework. Unfortunately apps using this framework may end up with strange mouseover issues where the previous skin images are used on mouseovers for a while. This is not a WindowBlinds issue. It also has menu text colour issues. The QT changes should impact any other app that also uses this framework such as the TeamSpeak 3 client.
  • Total Commander - The black menu bar items are now resolved
  • Photoshop Elements - tweaks to sort out a cosmetic non maximized window issue and seperators in their menus painting light when the rest is dark.
  • Yahoo Messenger - The correct theme is now used on the frames -uTorrent - An issue with buttons not positioning correctly when the add link window is expanded / collapsed has been worked around
  • Alcohol 120% - WB enforces strict Vista rules on the menus now
  • Automatic detection of custom menus that use the new menu theme parts added and strict Vista menu rules are forced on the application when this is detected.
  • The mouseover animated flash now applies to readonly combo boxes as well as buttons and toolbars.
  • IE9 should now support the use of the Web scrollbar sections where defined
  • IE9 groupboxes in webpages tweaked to match the style closer
  • CCCleaner - Small tweak to alter margins on header bars to prevent text on headers ending ... when there was enough space.
  • Thunderbird - Small tweak to add a line gap between the attached files list border and the selection box of any files attached.
  • IE9 on Vista - The second apply of a UIS2/PerPixel theme will no longer cause the tabs to vanish if IE is closed and reopened.
  • Keyboard selected items in explorer will now show with a selection image for all themes.
  • Menu padding settings no longer impact the menu bar itself.
  • Activation will request elevation (if required) -Some tweaks to the default themes included with WB

Tab issue in IE9 on Vista is indeed fixed. However, the UIS0 skin issue is still there, apply any UIS0 skin in Vista or Windows 7 64-bit shows up with a windows classic look. Thanks for the IE9 fix!

We were unable to reproduce any problems with UIS0 skins on Vista.

OK, thanks Neil.  Just curious though, is anyone else having this UIS0 skin application issue on Windows Vista or Windows 7? 32 or 64 bit? Sure would like to hear from people, even if they are not having the issue so I can figure this out.

hey frosty! the last time i installed wb, it had to be on the boot drive or it didn't work as it should. to be honest, i don't want the skins on the boot drive either. as much as i HATE not using them, until WB and IP allows the app and skins to be on a secondary drive instead of my SSD, i won't install them. i want to use Stealth OS!

anyway,........frosty, i hope you're feeling better and life is good for you these days.

First of all, my apologies to Stardock and Neil on my pursuance of this issue. It appears that after I did an uninstall of TuneUp Utilities 2012 and ran CCleaner and made sure all traces of it were gone, that all UIS0 skins apply correctly.

Neil, is there any way of working with the company that makes TuneUp Utilities on a fix or work around on this issue? I do not even use the GUI changing aspects of it at all, but even just having the software installed causes this issue. There are some other great aspects of the software though that I would like to use. Thanks.

I have a similar question - do I still use Impulse to update WB or should I donwload directly, or is the new SC available?

Thanks...

(sorry if this has been asked a hundred times before...)

Opera weirds outOpera 12 is incompatible with WB.

Gives a very weird skin, this is supposed to be ILook.

Don't mind the mangled menu, that's opera   related. To lazy to fix it.

You may need to disable HW acceleration in Opera 12.

Unfortunately unlike every other browser they went with OpenGL acceleration rather than DirectX and it would be a lot of work our end to support Opera 12 and it would only benefit Opera 12 and their marketshare is simply too small to make this viable.

Impulse is no longer used for any software updates or downloads.

Until the new SDC is released (very soon), you need to download the installers from the account page.

So i messed about with the settings. Hardware acdceleration didn't make a difference. Then i started messing about with 'per application' settings. Got some funny  results. In the end i just deleted Opera from the Per application list and behold:

Ok, just to let everyone know about the UIS0 skins applying as classic in Vista and Win 7, I fixed the problem.  All I had to do was uninstall and reinstall TuneUp Utilities 2012 (that I love) and all skins apply correctly now, UIS0,1 or 2! Yeah!
