We have released an update for both DesktopX 4 and DesktopX 4 Pro.  These updates are only bug fixes for DesktopX.

You can download the betas (v3.96)  via the Stardock store only.

So at this point we are without a working stable installation package of DXPro. ( unless you use impulse which since I've now renewed is no longer an option..)
Phoon, have you tried your link?  It should be fine.  Let me know if it isn't.

on Dec 01, 2011

I also can't get DX 3.5 anymore without Impulse, which I still have.

on Dec 01, 2011

3.5 Pro via Impulse installed and working great.

on Dec 02, 2011

Does it automatically come with a whole bunch of crappy redneckdude themes?

Not appreciated here.

The link on my accounts page?

The link for under DesktopX Pro3 has 2. One titled Download BETA and one titled Download.

The one titled Download still downloads v4.00.017.

So, this issue is still present. v4.00.017 does not work and based on the comments in this thread the newest beta does not work properly. So, like I said. We have no valid method of downloading a working version DX Pro. ( IMPULSE IS NOT A VALID METHOD any longer ).

Thanks Quick.

No. My sub is good till 12/1/2014, so I may keep Impulse until it no longer works.

I can confirm Phoon's findings on the buttons in the store. The download for Pro says 3.5, but it gives you 4.00.017.

I had no choice but to get it via Impulse.

Also, I may be doing it wrong, but I don't seem to be able to restore an Impulse archive.

They may have made changes . . you'd have to contact them for that.

Is it really so hard to fix the DX Pro 3.5.link ??? I can't believe that.

This is just plain silly. One should not have to contact Gamestop to restore a Stardock app just because stardock seems to have lost the install file for the ONLY functional version of DXPro. Seriously...

I think    ctb5150should get lost again if he as  nothing eles to say

on Dec 03, 2011

Apart from that I bet there would be a few good trusty people able to help out with the file.

OK, I now have DX Pro working on my laptop.

I reinstalled DX Pro 3.5 via Impulse, then I installed the beta from the store OVER the Impulse install and it works. It doesn't seem to have a client mode/builder mode distinction, and it failed to create a themes folder. It no longer has the option to export as sidebar gadget, and it no longer loads widgets into the import dialog.

Other than that, it seems to work fine. I haven't tried to build anything yet. I'm sure I'll have to import all the plugins. I think most of them have been removed.

on Dec 04, 2011

I have removed the bad 4.00.017 download from being available. At present, for Pro and Pro (upgrade - added back), there is the 3.96 beta available. As RedneckDude says, there is no longer the client/builder mode distinction and exporting as sidebar gadgets are gone. The plugins have been moved to Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\DesktopX\sdplugins (next to the objects).

RedneckDude
and it failed to create a themes folder.

And why does it not show widgets in the import dialog?

on Dec 05, 2011

there is no longer the client/builder mode distinction

Bad decision in so many ways... How do I access the documentation to look developer things up for example ?  If Stardock now strips down more and more functionality it is just useless and I'd say just retire it finally. It had to suffer for too long now.
