Well, you chose to attack the argument rather than the premis.
So - while you might consider it professional to treat customers who cannot use your product (as a result of manufacturer error) as irksome, and to resort to rudeness when questioned on this policy, this still doesn't explain either;
1) Why the product does not work across 5 completely different systems.
For the perhaps 30-40 hours of gameplay I've had (which was always a "knife edge - when is it going to crash and why doesn't the AI DO SOMETHING AND CHALLENGE ME experience) I've had crashes, slowdowns , stutters and OOM errors on every machine I've tried it on -and I've put a hell of a lot of time and effort into trying to get this to run and provide an enjoyable experience. Days of my time fiddling with hardware, re-installing, resetting, visiting these forums for advice and reading others solutions to problems, implementing changes, adding software - removing software, fiddling with registry settings - you name it I've sweated blood and tears to get this bloody game working. FIVE DIFFERENT MACHINES - all well within spec - all totally unique (not ONE shared component between them) All FAIL = ALL THE TIME 64 Bit Win 7 Machine - I7 2600 processor (not O/c) built three days ago - brand new system. 8 gig RAM, Geforce 580 GFX my latest machine - Crashes constantly, machine freeze or AI refused to move about every 10-12 turns 64 Bit Windows 7 Machine. AMD 965, 4 gig Ram, Geforce 280 GTX (hot). Now my office machine - Crashed constantly - rarely got 40 minutes without an OOM or freeze. 32 Bit Win 7 with Intel Core Duo E6850 - Geforce 460 then 480 (had a RTS issue and upgraded when I sent it back) crashed the least (but still 4/5 times a day) Alienware (Dell) laptop with 1 gigabyle 5870 GFX (It plays Crysis very well so should handle this) but guess what - it crashed about every 20 moves Vista 32 Bit machine (my sons) AMD 57FX with Radeon 5870. Ran well until patch 1.1. Now doesn't like it at all. However the gameplay before patch 1.1 I found so tiresome that I see no advantage in rolling back. 2) What you consider anyone paying for your product IS entitled to.

From what I can see it's ignorance tainted with a soupcon of rudeness on your part.
It certainly isn't a playable game.
You might want to put this in your advertising.
While you are at it look up the definition of "strawman arguments" and try and find where it applies to a consumer being sold something that flat doesn't work.
Better still, stick to writing games that crash and fail to provide a challenge, selling them to punters, ignoring their error reports and forum posts, demanding arcane and intricate "Beta test" stlye posts before you lift a finger to fix errors so glaring even a child could spot them, then pulling the plug by selling your delivery system to one of the biggest crook organisations on the web.
Finally follow that up by being rude to those who find this behaviour baffling and falling short of basic tenets of a normal supplier/consumer relationship - you seem good at that.
Scritty
Scritty ...what the hell are you trying to achieve here? You're just coming off as an ass quite frankly. I'll be the first to say that SD made a lot of mistakes with WoM. But continuing to shove it down their throats with this condescending "I am always right" attitude is not constructive and isn't going to get you anywhere.
My ban sense is tingling...
really though... STFU Scritty, SD made mistakes they've admitted it... no one is fucking perfect... if we as people we're perfect we'd be gods/goddesses and dare I shudder at the thought of some people having that kind of power because you have some pretty twisted and sick individuals in the world.
Get over yourself, you got your point across now go suck on a sock instead of stuffing it down the SD development team throat, regardless of the crashes and OOM I'm personally having fun with the game I already know the issues already found and stated will be taken care of, the majority of the stuff that's been reported are several small things and some larger things that stick out. The OOM errors and crashes are the number one thing SD is working on with this game and what they are releasing new patches for to solve it aside other small fixes and add-ons.
Take this for instance... you wouldn't find EA doing these patches like SD is doing... they'd probably just drop the game and it's support for it after a few patches (lazy really...) and move on to the next big project they could/would milk for cash without giving a damn about the people who play their games or their views. Basically EA is one of the main BANES of the gaming world is because all they care about is money, money, and more money and not actually releasing good games that'll stand the test of time, granted they have released several good games... but the majority of the releases aren't worth up to all the hype.
compared to EA, SD is a smaller company that actually cares about what kind of games it releases and makes and I have no doubt that the SD is full of passionate people who enjoy making games and playing them otherwise they wouldn't be in this kind of profession to begin with, they actually care about the player base.
So don't be stuck up ass who thinks he's a know it all/and is always right, cause your just asking for the people who support this game to jump on you and rip you to shreds, continue and you'll be digging the hole your in already deeper and quite possibly won't be able to get out of it once it gets deep enough.
The number one thing they sorted out?
So after 7 months the tech help forum isn't choc a block with people having these exact same errors in 1.19j?
Cause when I looked 5 minutes ago it was.
Have a look on the Distant Worlds forum for a decent comparison. 4X game came out last year. More complex game mechanics and real time. Programmed by one guy. Fixed and updated by one guy.
I see about 3 issues, and they are trivial game mechanic problems where users would rather a game played a certain way or favoured certain aspects of gameplay.
While on this forum you've for a tech help full of people with CTD's and OOM's. From my perspective the tech forum looks much the same as it did 6 months ago.
I couldn't give a flying pig what efforts Stardock devs made. I don't care how much you support their work or hammer those who have bought a game that fails to even play to a conclusion. Why should I?
Fact is the game is now 7 months old - and for many mnay people it just flat does not work - at all.
I'm glad your enjoying it - really I am (not sarcastic) It gives me hope that one day I will.
But telling me that I should "STFU" and that the good intentions of the developer should suffice to appease those who cannot play it is a cretins argument. "Pull the ladder up - I'm all right Jack"
I note both Frog boy and the fanboys turned to personal insults and threats as well. I use "STFU" in quotes - how much lower do you plan getting? Is that how you put a valid point across? Rudeness and violent threats?
That aside - I'm glad you are alright - I'm happy that the game plays for you.
But for me and many many many others - who have stayed patient and tried every fix and configuration that the devs have offered, sunk dozens of hours into trying to get the game to work, only to come across the very same issues as on release day (across many different hardware configurations) then this is a poor show.
I've had games that haven't worked before. Many of them. I had Space Shuttle in 1994 that required a keycode that failed and slowed the game down 1000%. I used Lenslok on Elite for the Spectrum in 1985, the coloured bar sheet on Jet Set Willy - recently I've had to play Far Cry 2 in wiondowed mode to get past the menu, and I've given up on several games entirely. (Silent Hunter V, Gary Grigsby's War in the East only a couple of weeks ago)
But I have tried EWOM on 5 totally and completely different machines with not one shared companent betwween them. Differnt processors, operating systems, GFX solution -ram configs - the lot.
It fails on all of them.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The 7 month path to a game that still does not work has been paved with fanboys saying we should be happy that Stardock are "making the effort".
The promise of "effort" has worn very thin. It means very little when the result is the same as it was last Fall.
Do I care about being banned?
Nope -not one bit.
Do I want to play EWOM as described.?
Yeah - too right I do. But feeling sated and pacified by the talk of all this "effort" now has no value. As far as completing the game goes 1.19j might as well be 1.0 - while I can appreciate that the devs are working on the game, and I applaud and thank them for that - it means very little if the game fails for many in the same way as it did 7 months ago. While that remains the case - I will continue to be cheesed off about it.
If I've targetted a mythical strawman here - someone please point out where. My vexxation seems pretty well directed at a core issue from where I'm sat - but I'm open to correction.
As for digging a hole that I may not be able to get out of. I have no idea what you are talking about. Threats? No idea. Banned from this forum? More flames from fanboys?
Really? A hole i've dug? Who cares?
Unless you know what school my kids go to or my bank details I couldn't care-a-less about your childish veiled threats. Get a grip.
Abuse and veiled threats - great arguments fanboys. I hope the devs are proud to have you as such diligent avatars
