There are a few games which I get real excited about – Battlefield is one of them.  Battlefield 3 was unveiled today by Game Informer with just a few details about the game which is slated to ship later in the year.

It will be powered by the new Frostbite 2 engine, have 64 man multiplayer, fighter jets, and the ability to go prone is back.

That last tank video just looks crazy impressive. Talk about on rails though.

I'm beyond stoked for BF3.

What I'm not stoked for is all the BS and drama that comes with it courtesy of EA. The whole Origin thing, all the confusion and silliness of pre-order DLC, exclusive DLC, map packs, yadda yadda yadda....they're putting out the full court press on this one. I want to play BF3, but there's already enough extra noise coming with the game that, with almost any other title, I would have said fuck it because of it by now. I mean, Origin? Yes, that's really what I want with BF3. EA's brand new Steam competitor, social-networking, DRM and DD platform. Nothing like having to run yet another client for one game. I hate publishers these days.

In one point i have to agree with you Nenjin:

The stupid EA client - nobody want this kinda shit. I have to use the EA download manager for one of my games and it sucks. I hate it. Nothing will be like steam...

But i want to play BF3 so i'll install this useless client!

Nothing has compared to BF1942 yet and this doesn't exactly look like a return to form. So I can't say that I'm excited.

Fk it, I'm going to say it. The game looks too good (visually), at this point. They're either shooting clips on a beyond-high-end computer, or running at a very low resolution (1080p or even 720p).

They're all playing on super computers, provided by EA, I'm sure.

Actually, there's probably a couple of computers they use for High Quality videos.

On a side note,  "There's" is a contraction of "There is", I should have used "There're", of course, that sounds kinda weird.

That new video is awesome! Watched in 1080p full surround sound... (pooped a little)

OMG I will try to put sometime aside for this game during fall and would gladly join anyone else in some games. BF3 is going to be epic!

Right now I am in the process of  getting a new Geforce 580, new powersupply, additional 1TB memory, and a cooling device (right now I can play some of my games in DX11 which is weird...?) Oh I'll be ready! Guns ablazing!

Did you play Battlefield 2? Their jets pulled relatively this same kind of performance at a way lower graphic scale. And that was almost 10 years ago. Believe that it looks that good, because they've been working hard to bring the jet experience from BF2 back with the level of fidelity you're seeing.

But it will take a beefy rig to enjoy it like that. At least a quad core, 4 gigs of ram, and whatever $150 card Nvidia and ATi are offering.

For those of you looking to upgrade your computers for BF3, I've provided some information here.
