Stardock Entertainment continues to bolster its development staff as renowned fantasy and science fiction writer/editor Dave Stern joins Stardock to oversee creative storytelling and lore implementation in all future projects, including the recently launched Elemental: War of Magic. Stern, author of numerous books including the novelizations of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and The Blair Witch Project and former editor of Pocket Books Star Trek and science fiction lines, was responsible for putting together the Hiergamenon lore book for Elemental: War of Magic Limited Edition. Stern will head up all further integration of the Elemental: War of Magic lore into the increasingly popular strategy title as Stardock continues to offer unparalleled post release support for the game.

“Although Stardock is known for delivering incredibly detailed strategy gameplay, one of the things we felt was weak in Elemental: War of Magic was how little the world’s fantasy lore came through in the game,” said Brad Wardell, president & CEO of Stardock. “Going forward, we look to make sure that our games deliver both solid game mechanics as well as a consistent and interesting world to play in.”

Last year, Stardock worked with Random House to help produce a novel, Elemental: Destiny’s Embers which serves as a prequel to Elemental: War of Magic the game. For the two upcoming expansion packs, lore implementation will be essential as each expansion is set to take the game in different directions.

“Brad and the Stardock team have developed an incredibly rich universe, full of fascinating characters and stories. Our goal is to make that lore part of the gameplay experience, so that each race and every faction can be explored in depth by players, and the world itself delivers enough excitement to keep people interested for years to come.”

Elemental: War of Magic is currently available for $39.95 at most retail outlets as well as directly from Stardock at www.elementalgame.com. Stardock is currently working on v1.2 of the game which will be free to all players.

How was Destiny's Embers a prequel to the Game?  Am I the only one that read that book?  It takes place something like 650 years after the game.

Oh, and glad to have you aboard, Dave!

Only one press release?  Where is the second release about hiring Jon Shafer:  http://tinyurl.com/JShafer

Big congratulations to Jon, Dave, and Stardock.

p.s. Jon, I hope you left someone decent in charge over at Firaxis; I enjoy both Civ 5 and Elemental, and would love to see them both reach full potential (though Elemental now seems better positioned to do so)

p.p.s. Frogboy, you have assembled quite the all-star team now with big names Kael, Jon, and Dave (and yourself). Make the best of it!

Well, I don't know this Stern fellow, but I'm quite glad to see that from here on out, there will be someone whose job it is to make sure that the lore actually does indeed get integrated.

And certainly, Welcome to you, Dave!

Gotta wait a few days for the initial nerd rage to die down so his welcome thread isn't filled with hate mail

Welcome Dave!

Why not hire George R.R Martin? Oh noooo, we will never see Elemental again for the next decade, if it's him. So, welcome Dave, if you decide to greet us in this forum I hope you can give a contribution to AAR section to show us how great of our elemental can be. You know... I love to read AAR, but our forum is lack of AAR story that I can read Plus, sometime, AAR can raise our spirit to play the game again. It's happen to another game. Including of some Paradox's game. A mediocre game can become excellent with fantastic AAR.

Honestly, I enjoy Elemental just because Frogboy's AAR (the first AAR with the hero Roland the thief) It is pity that the story is not finished. Maybe the world was crashed after the part 6

Hey all...

Dave Stern here, thanks for the welcome, look forward to participating in the forums, and working on the game (not necessarily in that order!)

Welcome to the forums, Dave!

Or should I say, Herr Gamenon

Does this mean the game is going to be filled with references to Sauer Kraut?  JK

Congrats on the new position.
