Hopefully we can do the same in November.

“With 99.22% of votes counted, the party had nearly 68% of the popular vote and 263 of the 386 seats in parliament, the national election committee said.

Almost a third of the seats were left to be decided on Sunday following the first round two weeks ago.

Fidesz promised to create jobs, lower taxes and reduce bureaucracy.

The ruling Socialists were in second place on 15% (59 seats), the far-right Jobbik had 12% (47 seats) and a new Green party called Politics Can be Different had 4.1% (16 seats). “

And your last statement begs the question - where did that stat come from

The New Americans: Economic, Demographic, and Fiscal Effects of Immigration

The name we gave them is related to the word "Huns". In fact the vice chair of the socialist party's name is "Attila".

Maybe it is just more than a name?

I will check it out.  I can honestly say I have never seen anything related to that before.  But then I do not guess illegal immigrants gravitate to the northern climates en mass, and that is where the highest rates are (Gary, DC, Detroit, Hoboken, etc.).

It could just be a "pray to the sun god" type of coincidence.

The theory goes, the illegal immigrants will usually do their best to stay off the radar as much as possible, and that include doing crime. They know the moment they draw attention to themselves, they can get snatched by the police and jailed or deported.

While young american kids know they won't get deported or sent to jail for living in the U.S., so they don't care about such repercussion.

A small city not far from where I grew up, Hazleton, PA. Has a huge illegal alien problem. To supplement the low, under-the-table wages they have turn to drug trafficking and prostitution to "supplement" their income. My sister, who lives near by, told me the schools are over run with the children of these illegals. Her property taxes (which pays for schools) are through the roof, paying for Spanish teachers and "free" lunches. The area was on the decline with population until the illegal influx about 10 years ago till the present. The illegals avoid property taxes, they rent an apartment and four or more families live in them. Hard to think about this sleepy, former coal mining town, changed. My senior prom was held at a lodge here. Murder and crime have sky rocketed. They bring the skills they know, which isn't always a good thing. I can't be convinced illegal immigration is a good, or acceptable thing.

As for the election in Hungary, I'm not so pessimistic about it. People are tired of paying the myriad of entitlement programs with no guarantee they will exist in the future when it's their turn. If the leaders in the current majority don't live up to their promises, I'm sure it will swing the other way. A lot of eyes are on what is happening in Greece and I'm betting many aren't liking what they see. IMO Greece is one of the most "socialist" of the EU nations. Beautiful place though.

You know the funny thing? Those here for a new life, you are correct.  And there are lots of them.  But for those here to make a quick buck and head out?  No, they do not care.  So perhaps the illegals in Salem Virginia are just as you state, but those in LA are not.

It has also been reported that higher border security makes it harder for alien to go back to Mexico, and thu, don't go back when they can't find work anymore, and they entrench themselves.

I really am not sure what to think about it. But demographics will solve the problem itself soon ennough.

You misunderstand how the European mind works.

You THINK people would understand that money has to be earned to be distributed, but Europeans really don't get that.

I remembe reading an article in a German news paper about people leaving Germany for the US where the author quickly established how educated workers leave the country for America and then went on for a two-page rant about how the destruction of the German social security system by moderate social democrats and conservatives and lowering of social security taxes lead people to emigrate. They really don't get it.

Greece had a (what passes there for) conservative government until a few months ago when people voted the socialists in.

I am thinking part of the problem is that the Greeks demonstrate against making changes rather than work all day.

300 comes to mind.

THIS IS GREECE!

LOL!  That is pure propaganda.  Going back is easy.  You walk across.  There is no check at the border points.  You do not have to ford a river or scale a wall.  Try it.  Come on down next February (we always do a fund raiser out in Imperial valley and welcome all the help!), and I will take you into Mexico (just make sure you have your passport to get back).

Besides, you will not be alone.  Them snow birds down there are Canadian as well as Americans.

The children's reflexive form...

Active: I broke the cup.

Passive: The cup was broken by me.

Children's reflexive: The cup broke.

Who reported?
