We experienced some server issues during the transition to the new site today, and unfortunately we had to revert back to the old site for the time being.  Everything is being worked on so hopefully we can get the new site going as soon as possible.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Actually complaints are good for a corporation. It is the only way to really gauge if the product is good. If the complaints go over a certain percentage you must look at what you are doing wrong possibly and rectify it. No good CEO or Vice President should want total yes men on their staffs it only leads to ego stroking and the company in the long run is the loser.

Complaints are one thing....constant bitching and whining is something else completely. Just sayin....

What I would like to know is how it's possible for IE to let a site lock it up (this is directed at IE, not Wincustomize, of course)! I mean, I couldn't even close the browser, the Window was totally unresponsive. The only way out was to kill the IE process, which, of course, also killed all other IE sessions.

This with IE 8 on a Windows 7 64 bit system.

Man...

IE's JavaScript engine is slow as molasses, and the new site contains a lot of it.  I bet it would work fine for you in another browser (the new site is significantly faster for me; I use Safari.)

keep it reverted to the old site forever. My opinion only but the new site sucks

Sorry, but that won't be happening.

I too prefer the old site... but I'm not too old or set in my ways.  I can accept change... takes a while sometimes, but if there's a new 'broom' and sweeping changes, I can go with the flow.... when I have to.

You know, Phoon, you're this close to being banned. Every time I see your posts it's whining about something. 2 years of non-stop bitching is enough. I see it again and you're no longer welcome on my site. Am i clear?

Achtung Mine Fhurer!  What kind of place is this anyway?  If I can't say what I think, who needs it.

The road to the future is bound to have some potholes.   I come here to enjoy the wit and wisdom (and talents) of WC's members. New site-old site, makes no difference to me as long as there is a site.

The new WC train may have derailed but the passengers will be ok,just a little shook up.

G-d knows I love ya Wiz....but are you sure you typed in the right url?

I'm not even complaining about it being slow (well, actually I am too, although it probably had more to do with the mentioned DNS problems than Javascript, as it spend a long time in each 'downloading picture ' phase) but that it actually managed to hang IE 8. Not make it run slow, note, but actually hang it, requiring the process to be killed.

What happened next was even more outrageous: IE 8 spawns new processes like there is no tomorrow (which would be a good thing if killing one process did not affect the others) but killing the WC IE window killed the GUI of all other independent IE sessions *and* left the actual processes orphaned. Re-starting IE and restoring the previous sessions created a bunch of whole new iexplore.exe processes.

I never use IE for anything, even the latest version is a dinosaur.

That can be arranged.

Saying what you think does not include personal abuse with comparing Frogboy and/or Stardock to Hitler/Fascism.  Apart from the reality that there is no 'righ to free speech' on a private forum, such comments are a violation of site policy.

It happens ID, change is good, looking forward to the new site up and running..my 2cents!

"....the reality that there is no 'righ to free speech' on a private forum...."

Exception:  Authority figures with a midget widget complex....

Other thoughts:

The beta wincustomize has worked fine for me----quick navigation and downloads, never even noticed there was a problem. Maybe just a function of the wireless I'm using?

Object DeskTop components provide great creativity tools and the contributors here inspire creativity.  You can't expect a unique website like this to hold your hand and pick up your binky every time you stumble.  In general computers and the computing environment is a milieu you have to explore and learn.

Hopefully, feedback about frustrating or difficult aspects will alert and teach.  Complaining and criticizing are not the same as being vulgar, obscene and grossly inappropriate and people here can tell the difference.  Maybe there is a sense of being negative in those actions, but that is not a sound rationale to abuse power.
