I was very excited to see the UPS truck roll up, and out comes my Windows 7 party pack box!  It’s full of great stuff for the party, and I can’t wait to give most of this stuff out to the party goers.

Here is a quick un-boxing:

LOL are you in Philly hence your name Philly0381? (I live in downingtown)

Anyways, people that signed up for the Windows 7 beta had an option to sign up for a windows 7 release party.  Of the people that signed up finalists were selected.  I have no idea what the criteria was to be a finalist but im sure something had to do with computer specs.  If you were selected to be a finalist then you had to organize your "party" by completing the registration form and inviting 9+ guests.  The first "x" amount of people that did this won the launch party box which includes some junk and a signature copy of windows 7 ultimate edition.

I received my windows 7 launch party box this past friday and the copy of Windows was signed by Steve Ballmer.  Funnily the signature appears to be somewhat legit since it was pressed into the sleeve with a ballpoint pen.  Whether or not it was actually him signing I'm not sure of.  Anyways i still don't know if this is a retail or OEM version.  I've asked around and haven't been able to determing that.

I'll probably be installing this weekend so hopefully i can get that cleared up.

FYI, i've been running RC1 for a few months now and absolutely love it.

If you have or will get 7 be sure to get:

Was that a coupon for Norton?  Surprised to see that in the box considering Microsoft's MSE product.

My wife Cracked up over the W7 Napkins in the party pack... LOL

i  included the details for the user above who reqd them...

Party Pack(USA only version) includes:

1 Copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (2 DVDs [one 64 bit and one 32bit] and a single product key)

1 pack of W7 napkins

1 Pack of W7 Bicycle playing cards

1 W7 jigsaw puzzle

1 pack of balloons

1 pack of orangish/red, blue, green and yellow, streamers

10 W7 tote bags to hand out to party attendants, the tote bags have the type of artwork that is in the "Character" wall papers in the personalization settings of W7

5 or so different packs of small fliers that advertise W7, Zune and other third party softwares

1 table top centerpiece

1 W7 poster

 * the Steve ballmer sig. isnt an actual signature. though it might be an exact depiction of how he signs, its automated and depressed or embossed into the paperboard of the sleeve....if you look close there is no ink.... if any doubt arises from my claims just use a magnifier (if you need to) and compare to the words in the gold band to the left of the signature that read "signature edition"

as far as it being an "OEM copy" i dont believe it is...

After installing W7 Ultimate Signature Edition, Click "Start">Right click "Computer" then select "Properties" within this right click menu>then scroll all the way down to the "Windows Activation" section of the Window

look for the "Product ID" in this area, I think if its an "OEM" copy, The Product ID# would Include the letters "OEM" in this number.

Example:

(Product ID: *****-OEM-*******-*****)

That site you used ID is blocked here by my security program. Says it is a bad site and linked to other bad sites.

How about Flickr?

Glad to see you are ready to go for the event here next week. Hope you make one of the technical briefings. It is a very good idea.
