Stardock is excited to announce the release of WindowBlinds 6.4.  WindowBlinds is an application that allows users to change the complete look and feel of both Windows XP and Windows Vista using skins, also called “visual styles”.  WindowBlinds does not alter system files, so it’s completely safe to use, and it uses the latest in hardware acceleration features so it will not affect your PC’s performance.

Aside from just changing the visual style, WindowBlinds gives you control over them by allowing users to change the colors of the skin, adjust opacity and blur levels, change skin fonts, change Explorer window backgrounds, and much more.

What’s new and updated in WindowBlinds 6.4:

  • Support for glass menu bars on Windows Vista
  • Support for a different mouseover image on the right hand side of the Start Menu
  • Control over the background color of the Start Menu "Programs" list
  • Double clicking the top left of a per pixel window will now close it on Windows Vista
  • Control over the search box text color & font
  • Better control over the Start Menu fonts & colors
  • New section to allow a custom mouseover image used on the "Programs" link on Vista versus the legacy solid color
  • Start button overlay now supports animation

WindowBlinds is part of the Object Desktop suite of desktop enhancement, and is also available stand-alone for $19.95.  Visit www.windowblinds.net for a free trial download.

I understand what vstyler says about updates in WB and needing skins to show off new features. Usually though there is at least one skin in an update that reflects the use of these changes. Although maybe that is only the major releases, not just the point releases. Anyway fine with me, I'm excited to see new skins anyway or old ones quickly updated. So come on skinners use the new features......... PLEASE

I've seen a few WIPs.  Nice stuff coming.

Isn't it kind of silly to include new features and not even show them off?
^ Now thats silly.

They can't be implemented until the technology is there Asty.. new features don't skin themeselves. Perhaps a little patience wouldn't hurt. WB is constantly evolving and expecting every version to come with all new skins with every little feature included and updated is unrealistic.

In much the same way it's also incredibly time consuming to support legacy as the engine evolves too.
i would think they would update the included WB skins that install by default, to show off the features. u can tell me all these awesome features are added, but until i see them it doesn't really mean anything to me. at least update one of them as an example to see what it does, and it would also help skin dev's to see how it's implemented and used

Niiiice! And appropriate to see how Windows and WindowBlinds has evolved from it's early days until now. Why appropriate? Well, today is the 200th Anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth, and the 150th Anniversary of "The Origin of The Species". M1 out there?

I can't see any rush here, why would they have features that we had to wait for a skinner to explore,, I believe they should have waited and implemented at least one if not more with all the features. This will not only show the features but it will be as guide lines of the other skinners,

^ Now thats silly.
Oh please don't give me that BS, you and I both know they should have at least included ONE skin, that way everyone gets to see the new features in action and people like you have a guideline on what needs to be done to support these new features.

But there is no sense in arguing over something like this. Just going to have to wait and see.

Looking forward to seeing the updates

Okay, I updated to WB 6.4 on my Vista machine. Now, I have a problem with the blind I am working on. The text color on the right side of the start menu is not the text color I had there before. My chosen text color is still in the text colors area, but the color that is showing is not that color! I like the normal text color on my start menu to be the same in all panes. What WB 6 did, was take the mousover color from the All Programs panel and used it on the right side too!

Oh no i had that problem with the beta...................

Oh no i had that problem with the beta...................

Does anyone know if there is a workaround for this?  Or are we stuck with no choice???  Prior to this, we at least had choice over the normal color for all the panels!

No i think there's a problem with it cos it only happens with some skins.....
