This is one of the reasons people voted for Obama, because they want everything for free.  They don’t want to better themselves, they want everything handed to them from the government.  Seeing some of these people today showed just how weird Obama supporters really are.

Does Barak have a Jerry Springer complex? These "episodes" where straight off the cheesy daytime "who the babies daddy" TV shows.

The mickey "D"s guy Julio appears to have reached his employment pinnacle and is wasting his time and money on college. Is he looking to replace Chis Mathews? It would appear so with his Obama man-crush. He's exactly what this country needs another broadcaster/ DJ . Another product of the "you owe me something" generation.

The second is a bit sadder. This woman (Henrietta) thought that her financial worries would be over when she put that check mark in the Obama box on Nov. 4th. She, like millions of others that did the same, is wondering when the  big check and new home will be ready. Is she (and the others) in for a surprise. The white woman in the back ground was just hilarious! She just conveyed her "jungle fever" fantasy on national television to the world. You can respect, admire, or like a president, but professing love (to anybody you don't know on a personal level) is plain weird.

My predictions for this "talk show host" format: It will not last long. As soon as more folks realize they aren't going to be able to retire at 25 or the new house isn't coming, the crowd will turn into something less adoring. Entertaining though if you like that sort of thing.

My prediction is a little more dire.  Right now people are euphoric over Obama being the president and his approval ratings are extremely high at the moment.  I have a feeling the afterglow is going to start waning here in a couple of months once they realize exactly what is going on.  I have a feeling that Obama is going to end this year with an approval rating closer to that of congresses and there are going to be a lot of pissed off people in this country because Obama isn't the savior that they all thought he was.

I voted for Obama (my first time ever voting democrat in a presidential election) and do not want anything for free, or any handouts, etc.

I sell cars for a living and have a small software business as a sideline gig.  I work hard at both and make a fairly decent living.

Here are the reasons that I voted for Obama.

1) I respect John McCain for his service during Nam and actually like him (read his book before he ran, etc.) but I really felt that he was out of touch with what was going on with the economy.  He said that the economy was strong 3 months before it fell apart.

2) Sarah Palin: wow--she could have been next in line for prez!  Once again, I like her--I like that she had her baby instead of aborting it, I like that she hunts, I thought her husband was cool but quite frankly, I don't think she had the brains to run this country.

If the republicans would have had someone else, like maybe Mitt Romney run (I voted for him in the primaries) then I probably would have voted for him.  There are people who will vote republican every time and vice-versa but I try to weigh all of my options.

All in all, Obama has been handed a big plate of shit and people are going to blame him if his breath smells like shit 4 years from now--a plate that good ole G.W. Bush and D. Cheney (and Alan Greenspan if you want to get realistic) created and handed to him.

I voted for bush because I felt "safer" with him being prez but quite frankly, right now the economy is what is important--more important than abortion, gay marriage, terrorists, etc, etc.

Well you shouldn't have voted for Obama, because socialism will utterly destroy our economy.  It's not Bush's fault this happened, he's just the scapegoat people want to blame everything on.

Really, everyone should have voted for Ron Paul, because he knew what he was talking about.  Too bad everyone hates him.  I suppose he's ahead of his time.

Marvelous1967, there are lots of hard working folks from all political leanings, left and right. While I might disagree with many of the policies  the liberals here on JU subscribe to, I don't think for a minute that they are anti-American or don't want what they think is best for the nation. Your reasons for voting for Obama are interesting, it seemed like more against the Republicans than for Obama (so glad you didn't mention "change" or "hope").

1) I respect John McCain for his service during Nam and actually like him (read his book before he ran, etc.) but I really felt that he was out of touch with what was going on with the economy. He said that the economy was strong 3 months before it fell apart.

Good point, but what makes you believe Obama knew better? He only spent half a term as Senator before running. He's not an economist. In fact he has now abandoned or postponed many of his tax proposals since entering office. Why? Because all presidents have advisor's, they don't think about these things on their own. Would you trust any of them with your money?

2) Sarah Palin: wow--she could have been next in line for prez! Once again, I like her--I like that she had her baby instead of aborting it, I like that she hunts, I thought her husband was cool but quite frankly, I don't think she had the brains to run this country.

And you sleep better at night knowing Biden is next in line? Enough said.

So there were no Democrats in government the last eight years? I can't speak for you but the economy seemed pretty good before the Dem's gained power in congress in 2006. Weren't Frank (D) and Dodd (D) key players in the housing sub-prime crisis which supposedly set off our recent troubles? Obama was a Senator during all this, so he inherited only what he himself is complicit in. Where was his voice of warning then? Or did he not want to out his political buddies? Care to explain how Bush and Cheney created the problem?

I voted for bush because I felt "safer" with him being prez but quite frankly, right now the economy is what is important--more important than abortion, gay marriage, terrorists, etc, etc.

Do you feel safer now? I don't. I agree completely with your list (with the exception of terrorism). So if the economy is so important, why was re-establishing the funding for organizations providing abortions one of the first acts of the Obama administration? Why was one the first statements by the Obama press secretary concerning the abolishment of the military policy on gays? Unless you are unaware of what is happening on the sidelines, as a reader of your post, I would say he has not lived up to your expectations.

Bush and Cheney did not create this problem.  They certainly didn't help, but lets look at how people like Dodd and Frank pushed companies to give credit to people who obviously couldn't pay it back.

I don't blame it all on Bush but in my humble, uneducated opinion, a huge part of the economic problem that we are experiencing right now is because...

A) The price of oil went up.

The price of good went up because of A.

C) The average person who bit off more than they can chew in a home (especially lacking the credit or the means to pay it back) started having trouble paying their house payment (sometimes "interest only") because of A and B.

D) Greenspan started raising interest rates to "fight inflation" because of A and B and forced C to have a higher interest rate to raise an already high payment.

E) Bush said, "The economy is strong" and when he visited the Saudis, he begged them to increase production (which they didn't) as A got higher and higher.

Leadership is the key--I work for a bunch of "yes men" who lack leadership and it shows.  Put it this way--say you are in combat and you are getting the hell kicked out of you--artillery is falling, snipers are picking off people to the left and right of you--you are scared and tired and your leader is saying, "Ah--that's nothing.  Are position is strong."  Would you rather have that leader or someone who says, "Our position is screwed--this is what we need to do to better our position.  You--take the flank--you--take out that sniper.  Me--I'll lead the way!  Follow me, men!"  Who would you rather have?  I would rather have someone who seems to have an idea what is going on.

Now as I stated, I really like McCain--just not as president.  When a guy can't even remember how many homes he has when a large percentage of people are losing theirs, there is something wrong.  He was also a "yes man" for bush and I know--things are along party lines and I'm sure (haven't checked out) that Obama was a "yes man" on the democratic side.  That is what is wrong with this country--people put their politics first, their chance of getting re-elected second, their doners third (or maybe first!) and their country last.  Case and point--the "stimulus package" that just passed--it will do nothing of the sort.

As far as Frank and Dodd pushing people to get credit that they couldn't pay back--well, I'm also guilty of that as a car salesperson.  I got people approved who had no business buying a car but you know what?  That is part of the bank's business plan--they expect a certain percentage of those loans to fail hence the high interest rates associated with them.

That was supposed to be...

B. The price of goods went up because of A.  Don't know where the smily face came from

(Don't know how to quote...)

My answer to that is that Obama, even though he is a smoker, is a lot younger than McCain and McCain is also a cancer survivor so the odds of Palin becoming prez are a lot higher (if you take out the record number of people who have threatened Obama...)

the crowd will turn into something less adoring.

not to worry.  simply hire karl rove to compile the guest list and bar admission to anyone except not sufficiently vetted and preselected.

those infomercials...oops, i mean meetings with ordinary folks just like you and me...may just be the bush administration's sole unqualified success.

Well Marv I guess we'll see how your choice works out for you.

So has anyone heard if Henrietta got her new home and job after the rally ended?
