As we have been teasing you with news about DeskScapes for XP, and Bootskin for Vista over the last couple of weeks, I wanted to tease some more and show Bootskin in action.  Get Object Desktop to get access to all these cool apps when released.

That dreaded blue screen... seen it few time when i was learning about making the bootskins... what i found is : if you use paint or some of the other art programs even though you save them in a 16 color format and the 4 bit they don't always do it corectly...thust not doing what the programs telling us it's doing...lovely aren't they...lol there's and art filter for photoshop... you can find the pluging to do the 4bit at the following link...website http://photoshop.pluginsworld.com/plugin.php?idx=50&directory=Adobe&software=Photoshop&searchFor= That's where i found most of my photoshop plugins... also if you have the Skinstudio professional...you can click the tools button up top and there'll be popdown to creat the bootskin image... and it works find for them both... however you'll have to resize the scroller (9x22 image) and make sure the background is 640 x 480, which is why I use the photoshop filter, and it checks them that way and lets you kind of retouch the images to make them look better if you need... hoiwever you'll find you'll still be limiteed to the colors in the images before you loaded them in photoshop...only 16....and one more note... if there's too much color variation between the background image and the scroller... as in an extra color between the 2... then the wonderful bluescreen of dread pops up...reason being the totol , between the 2 images turns out to be 17 colors and we're only allowed to have 16 total colors for the whole thing... Hope this helps and wish you luck...and Skruffy

The new bootskin is a new set of rules.  HiDef baby!!

Will that pretty blue one also be animated, Zubaz?

Doc asks innocently, I assure you.

My question is this: Will bootskin for Vista be more stable than it's XP cousin? Because I find bootskin on XP to be very unstable.
on Nov 17, 2008

Bootskin for XP has not been developed in more than 5 years now I believe. Bootskin for Vista will have current development and the attention of support so you can be sure it will be more stable. Please know that the release that is due out soon is a beta and should be treated as such until the full release of the product.
