It's an excellent pick.

If McCain plays his cards well, and I am sure he will; he will use her for most of the attacks from now on. She will be the strong, empowered woman for the Hillary supporters, the conservative married woman for the conservatives, and a second Hillary for the Obama campaign.

And McCain can lean back and be nice, be the experienced gentleman who is above those pity fights.

Obama chose Biden to fight McCain.

Now he will have to fight Palin instead. And in that fight Biden is useless.

Her stand on the teaching of creationism in schools is her only weak point with me personally, but that hardly constitutes a threat to the well-being of the nation.  If I waited for a candidate whose views matched mine line for line, I'd never have a candidate.  I think McCain made a brilliant choice and I would feel far more comfortable with her in a crisis than with Barry O, especially after watching BO's sad performance at the Saddleback Forum.  He's not comfortable in his own skin.  Great professional orator, give him his due, but put him on the spot without a teleprompter or posse of sycophants to rely on, he's very unsure of himself.  McCain has had 72 years to get comfortable in his, and he's very much there.

And in that fight Biden is useless.

IN virtually any fight he is useless.

This is a terrible pick 4 mccain she has only been gov 4 18 months and is already being investagated!

We'll see where that goes, but it sounds more like a tempest in a teapot than a scandal, nothing close to Obama's personally benefiting from his connections to the likes of Rezko.

Even Little Green Footballs argues that it is no problem:

And here is what she really said about Creationism:

“I don’t think there should be a prohibition against debate if it comes up in class. It doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.”

She added that, if elected, she would not push the state Board of Education to add such creation-based alternatives to the state’s required curriculum.

It worries me a bit that she says that it "doesn't HAVE to be a part of the curriculum" (apparently she doesn't understand that religion MUST NOT be part of the science curriculum). But apparently the only Creationism she wants in schools is in the form of debates. I don't mind the idea of science teachers telling children why religion isn't science.
