Now they are taking themselves way too seriously.

Google has said it intends to crack down on the use of its name as a generic verb, in phrases such as "to google someone."

The Internet search giant said such phrases were potentially damaging to its brand.

"We think it's important to make the distinction between using the word 'Google' to describe using Google to search the Internet and using the word 'google' to generally describe searching the Internet. It has some serious trademark issues," a representative for the search company said.

using the word 'google' to generally describe searching the Internet.

It's what helped get them where they are.
I heard recently that TIVO is trying to do the same thing.

Google needs to google "Take a good hard look at yourselves"

...that's getting seriously flakey, guys.

Actually, I think they do have a serious issue developing. With the word google being added to dictionaries as has happened recently, they can easily foresee a very hard time controlling the trademark. I think they are trying to address the issue before "the horse is out the door", which it might be already. Not a big Google fan btw.

Another firefox user said you have to highlight the user name and time stamp for it to work. Check out MasonM's blog. He was the one saying that worked for him.
